Nightly News April 27th

We survived the morning without phones and internet. Thank you for your patience. I know it put a few kinks in the day. I will send out a new Safety Meeting invite since we postponed today's meeting in order to get info out.  This afternoon I was in back of the building and saw someone round the corner. They had been in dumpster looking for metal. I let them know they needed to immediately leave campus and they did so. They were not happy with my request and has some choice mumbling going on.  That being said, it punctuates the need for exterior doors to be shut at all times. Be vigilant! I am trying not to admit this, but Jill's last day at HP is tomorrow. She has made an impression on many of our students and staff members in her short time with us. I know I have made a life long mentor and friend. Please join us for a celebration @ 3:25. Location will be announced.  Headphones - All OSAS supplies have been delivered to testing classes. We do have some headphones left o...

Nightly New April 26th

Thank you for the Birthday wishes. I wish I could have been here all day with the love I felt. I learned a new tradition from Ms.Vane's class (wow....counting how old I am took a bit). I won't have enough room on my fridge for the pictures. I appreciate you all. A quick reminder to ensure you are keeping all doors shut. I know with the nice weather it is tempting to leave doors open for airflow, but alas safety is most important. The exception would be doors leading into courtyards. I really don't have anything else pressing right now! Enjoy the sun tonight.

Nightly News for April 25th

Tomorrow is Administrative Professionals Day. In my world they are unsung heroes and able to switch gears in a second. They are dispatchers, triage experts, customer service reps, account mangers and more. Thank you Shannon, Naima and Kelly for your work every.single.day.  I will be at a learning walk tomorrow morning. I should be back in the building before 1:00. We are excited to announce that we have selected and placed about 240 candidates for positions with Summer Acceleration Academy 2023, which means we are at about 70% complete!  We still need staff in the following positions: K-5 Teachers (Posting #25695)- 52 Needed 6-8 Teachers (Posting #25704) - 18 Needed Spanish DLI Teachers (Posting #25697) - 4 Needed K-5 Special Education Teachers (Posting #25698) - 5 Needed 6-8 Special Education Teachers (Posting #25705) - 2 Needed ELD Teachers (Posting #26040) - 12 Needed Paraeducators (Posting #25699) - 8 Needed

Nightly News for April 24th

I returned from my district meeting and then had to finish evaluations for contract work. On that note, I will be offline from 10:00-12:00 tomorrow for interviews w/ contractors. I will be available the rest of the day.  OSAS Updates Theresa sent an email about OSAS training, Pepper PA1024 and PA1026. If you received this email make sure you complete these as soon as possible.  All testing supplies (scripts, read aloud directions, door signs, headphones, and snacks) were delivered to testing rooms today. Supplies were sent out based on emails/surveys sent in Feb/March. Elementary classes received an email with OSAS slides. These are optional.  If you have any questions about sample or training tests please reach out to Theresa.  As we begin testing now would be a good time to remind students about voice levels in the hallways ESPECIALLY when testing is taking place.  And another testing note...if you are scheduled to test and need to be out of the building unexp...

Nightly News for April 20th

As I was out at Leadership today I am spending tonight catching up. Thank you to all who pitched in.  For those who plan on attending the Meet & Greet with Principal Bourland please feel free to flex your time and arrive later tomorrow morning. The only caveat is you are ready to roll when your students arrive. See you in the library @ 3:30.  The building will be open from 10:00-2:00 on Saturday. There is a hard stop for 2:00.

Nightly News for April 19th

Just a heads up that tomorrow is 4/20. Some of you will go what does this mean? Others will chuckle...some may bristle. Without going into too much detail I will say our middle school students may be making more marijuana jokes than normal or referencing this. If you see, smell or think anything fishy is going on please let Leah, Emily or Dan know.  Leah will be out @ Leadership tomorrow. She will be available by text and/or email.

Nightly News for April 18th

Here is the slide deck for today's staff meeting (K-5). PD4.18.23    Those serving K-5 students who were not present please be sure to turn in this form.  Buddy/CalmingWS . I will try to check in with you in regards to this. As a reminder to all staff we ask that you prioritize our PD time together. We have had very little time to go over building specific information and as the year winds down we need all the time together we can get.  Starting next week the leadership class will begin taking down old signage and student work around the building.  We will not be taking down current work or signage from your classes this year. We are wanting to get a head start on our great purge. Starting at 1:30 the door to room 171, near Chukwu's office, is to be locked and closed. Students can enter the space through the doors by the lunch tables. This plan is in place to support the safety of a student.  OSAS Testing  -  All adults need to complete the traini...

Nightly News for April 17th

I will be out of the building (at Hosford) from about 9:15 until 2:15 tomorrow. I will be available by text or email. Staff please be aware of leaving Synergy or other screens open that have student information visible. Along the same lines if you loan a computer to a student please ensure you are logged out of Synergy etc. We have a situation where a parent is getting prank phone calls and all the student's contacts listed in Synergy are as well. It is very strange and how someone got this information is questionable. We do believe it is a student.   As a reminder please turn in a copy of report cards to the office. This should go home Friday.  Security Services sent out some reminders to admin today and I felt much of it was worth sharing.  All staff and volunteers should be vigilant and have good situational awareness while on campuses. At the beginning and the end of the school day, all entrances used during arrival and dismissal must be monitored at all times by...

Nightly News April 13th

Tara and I will be ironing out the details of her transition. We each hope to have two days a week       to focus on the nuts and bolts of transition work and the other two days in K-5 classrooms                 supporting students and teachers. The plan as of right now is to have one of us doing transition         work and the other being available for support.  On that note, we will be holding a meet and greet for Tara here at Harrison Park next Friday at 3:30. Staff who would like to attend should feel free to flex their time and are welcome to arrive at work  at 8:30ish. I wanted to let you know in advance so you can make shifts as needed. The K-5 Instructional Leadership Team is working on the schedule for next year. If you have ideas or preferences, you can email them to Irene, Paige, and/or Theresa. Also, it would be great to have 1 or 2 people join this group. We will be meeting o...

Nightly News for April 12th

An announcement was supposed to go out today in regards to Clark's new principal. As of 8:00 this evening I have not seen the official posting. I try to follow protocols as much as possible and will not name our new teammate until it is announced by the district. I am hoping I can do this tomorrow. Thank you for your continued patience... Thank you for your quick and focused earthquake and fire drill today. It only took eight minutes! There were a few things we need to revisit or address, but overall it went well.  In an effort to be on top of the end of the year I just wanted to communicate out that the last day of K-5 electives will be Monday, June 12th. This ensures that K-5 teachers get their adjusted amount of planning time for the week.

Nightly News for April 11th

Earthquake drill. Tomorrow sometime after 12:00 Here is the link to the educator substitute resources.  It has a lot of good information for educators about requesting subs and how to use the system.   Substitute Office Resource for Classroom Educators Be sure to turn in your extended hours and other payroll items to Shannon ASAP. She has to have everything done by Friday.  As a reminder if you have students staying after school to work on projects, receive academic support etc. please be sure to let the office know. We do get calls from parents trying to track their kids down. In the same vein, if you are having students stay after school they need to remain with you and be handed off to parents/guardians or released at the predetermined time. Please be sure you are aware of their pickup plan and remain with them until pickup or until they have left the building. If you are planning on field trips this would be a great thing to do! Anyone want to do Allergy/Epi-Pen ...

Nightly News for Monday April 10th

I hope your day was productive. I was able to check some things off my punch list.  Emily is out at a district meeting until around noon tomorrow. I have a dental appointment and should be in by 9:15. Jill will be in a bit after 8:00 It is with a heavy I share that I share Mary Del Rio passed away in late March. Darrel Gilbert let me know this morning. She was taken to the hospital and passed away there from congestive heart failure. I know many of you worked with her over the years. At this time, I do not have any additional details.  I wanted to give everyone as much advance notice as possible. We are planning on beginning computer turn in on the 7th of June. As you begin planning for the end of the year this is certainly something to consider.  K-5 Team- Thresa sent this out, but I will follow up and send it here as well.  This quarter we will translate comments that need to it since we won't be meeting directly with all parents.  Here is the ...
