Nightly News for April 11th

  • Earthquake drill. Tomorrow sometime after 12:00
  • Here is the link to the educator substitute resources.  It has a lot of good information for educators about requesting subs and how to use the system.

  • Be sure to turn in your extended hours and other payroll items to Shannon ASAP. She has to have everything done by Friday.
  • As a reminder if you have students staying after school to work on projects, receive academic support etc. please be sure to let the office know. We do get calls from parents trying to track their kids down. In the same vein, if you are having students stay after school they need to remain with you and be handed off to parents/guardians or released at the predetermined time. Please be sure you are aware of their pickup plan and remain with them until pickup or until they have left the building.
  • If you are planning on field trips this would be a great thing to do! Anyone want to do Allergy/Epi-Pen training from the comfort of your home tomorrow at 4:00 pm? Sign up at the link below- you will become certified for 3 years and can be a big help to your school, especially on field trips. Thank you in advance!

  • Do you have students that you would like to see recognized? Here is an opportunity.

Dear PPS community,

We hope you nominate a student to be a 2022-23 PPS All Star!

The All-Star Awards Ceremony is Portland Public Schools’ premier recognition event of students and communities of color to relish in a night full of excellence, community, and celebration. The event features five group recognitions, including API Voices for Asian and Pacific Islander student honorees; New Portlanders for students honorees who’ve recently made Portland home; Sí Se Puede for Latinx student honorees; Take Flight Native Pride for American Indian and Alaska Native student honorees; and Young, Gifted, and Black for African, Black, and African American student honorees.

We recognize that our students are diverse and their excellence is nuanced. If you know a student who deserves to be recognized and celebrated for who they are or what they’ve accomplished, please nominate them to be an All Star!

To nominate a student, please use this form.

Nominations will be open Tuesday, April 10, 2023 and close on Friday, April 28th, 2023. Students will be honored on Thursday, May 25th, 2023

Nominations can be made by teachers, staff, parents, and community members.

If you are interested in serving on any of the subcommittees to select honorees, contact Yian Saechao in the Community Engagement Department at yisaechao@pps.net.
