Harrison Park Post

On September 23rd, will be the first embedded professional learning day for PAT members. As a reminder, this event is a non-student facing day for all schools.  This event is mandatory for all CSI/TSI teachers and optional for all other teachers.  While this is mandatory for CSI/TSI teachers, there is no make-up training. Harrison Park is not currently at CSI/TSI school, but we strongly encourage you to take part in this opportunity. All teachers who attend will be paid their hourly rate as this is not part of their 192 day contract. We will continue to update the TPL   website  with any needed additional information. I came around and  gave you a class list for Homeroom classes. Homeroom teachers please highlight or circle the names of any students you have not yet been in your classroom and turn it in to the office by 9:00 tomorrow morning. We are holding an optional meeting on Structured Recess tomorrow morning at 8:10 in the Main Gym. I sent an invite out earlier this afternoon.   Great work on the fire drill today. You all did a great job having the kids line up and be attentive during the drill. Remember to grab your orange buckets and red/green emergency placards.  Kinder supplies, backpacks and middle school supplies are on tap for tomorrow and Friday. 

We have our first fire drill scheduled for 9:40 tomorrow morning. Please take a moment to review what exit you should use. If you do not have an exit map by your door please send an email to Shannon to let her know. Also take a moment to locate your orange emergency bucket. We did an inventory of these recently. If you do not have one please make a note of that as well. We ask that you review with your class the expectations for behavior during a fire drill. Students should remain with you and calmly exit the building. Once outside you should take attendance and make note of any students who are missing (who were present today and are not with you upon getting outside). If you are missing students please flip your emergency "chart" to red and hold it up. If all of your class is present have it present green. I chose to wait until today to do the Weekly Forecast because technically the week starts tomorrow! The weather is looking to be hot again this week. I am keeping my fingers crossed for temps in the low 80s. Tip- Make a few positive calls home this week. Those early calls go a long way later on!  We will continue to do the release announcements through Wednesday. Starting Thursday we will no longer make announcements and will rely on the bells.  We ask that you adhere to the schedule so we do not have all students out in the halls at one time.  I am HOPING tomorrow will be the last of 90 weather. It was much cooler this morning and hopefully rooms were a bit cooler today.  We purchased 15 fans that were identified for the hottest rooms on my list. Ms.Dunn I owe you one, but from what I hear a fabulous co-worker gave one to you. True story, the sweat from my hand smudged your name so much I missed it on my list. Those fans that went out to identified classrooms need to remain in the classroom they are assigned to. We are on the search for an item that was placed in the back "furniture" graveyard. This item needs to be returned to the district. If you grabbed it please get it back to the front office as the district asking for it's return. Things are moving along. I did not get into the back classes today to look at temps, but did make it into the front half of the building. I know it is warm. I saw a lot of kids with long sleeves, hoodies, etc. on. We are sending out another reminder for parents to send students with water bottles and to dress in appropriate clothing.  As went out previously, we will continue to work to find alternative locations for those whose rooms are the hottest. Please text me tomorrow as we will need to shift our current plans a bit. We will have Kindergartners in the building tomorrow so our gracious Kinder hosts will no longer be able to accommodate guests.  We should have a few fans for the hottest classrooms.  We will be labeling what room the fans belong in. We were given fans facilities last summer, and in the past, and the majority of those have grown feet and walked away. This is a late edition. I had hoped to send it out before I left today, but alas we had a late bus (it came at 4:30 and by that time we had already called the parents and all the kids had been picked up). I kept thinking my daughter's first soccer game would get cancelled because of the heat, but they played on. I made the decision to let work wait and head to her game. I made it for the last 15 minutes and it was HOT. I am not going to lie, I came home and jumped in the pool with my new bulldog shirt and all my clothes on...it felt fantastic. Today was a good day even with the heat. We had a few glitches here and there, but it was a solid first day because of our work together. Thank you! Please be on the lookout for my walkie.
