Nightly News for September 6th

  • We have our first fire drill scheduled for 9:40 tomorrow morning. Please take a moment to review what exit you should use. If you do not have an exit map by your door please send an email to Shannon to let her know. Also take a moment to locate your orange emergency bucket. We did an inventory of these recently. If you do not have one please make a note of that as well. We ask that you review with your class the expectations for behavior during a fire drill. Students should remain with you and calmly exit the building. Once outside you should take attendance and make note of any students who are missing (who were present today and are not with you upon getting outside). If you are missing students please flip your emergency "chart" to red and hold it up. If all of your class is present have it present green. A staff member will come around and check to see what students are missing and we will use the walkies to try and locate them.  Please have your class face away from the building in a line. Once we have checked all spaces we will give an all clear and will ask you to return to the building.
  • K-5 Homeroom teachers- Thursday morning at 8:10 Rustin Marchello and I will be in the first gym to go over Structured Recess. This meeting is optional. Unfortunately, we have not had PLCs yet and we did  not have a staff meeting today. We wanted to identify some time to go over questions and provide more information for K-5 teachers. If you chose not to come, or can not make it, Rustin will make an effort to check in with you.
  • Tomorrow we will welcome Jon Franco, Chief of Staff to HP. I am not sure what time he will arrive, or how long he will be with us. I am sure he will want to head into some classrooms. Just letting you know.
  • From our VILS Coach, Brenda Carpenter- I’m going into my third year of instructional coaching and my lovely husband has advised me that I probably should not keep carrying my posters around anymore (thanks Dan). Therefore I would love to share them with all of you! I have science posters from many grade levels. I have physical science posters, earth science posters, weather, biology, chemistry, and way more than my fair share of space and the electromagnetic spectrum. I have them all spread out in my room (a.k.a. the locker room). Please feel free to stop by on Tuesday starting at 8 AM and all day as long as my door is open! Happy to share with all of you!
  • The district has enabled most classroom phones to make long distance calls. We know many of our parents have numbers that can not be dialed unless long distance is available. Hopefully this makes contacting parents easier
  • Do you have a horse shoe/group table you are not using? Do you have two in your room? We have a teacher that really wants one. Please let Shannon or me know if you do so we can arrange to get it to them.
  • The front office closes at 4:00. We did have a .25 office staffing cut this year which has impacted everyone's ability to complete tasks, etc. Shannon often works WELL beyond her paid day to finish things. I am working on getting her out of here on time. If she is still in the office after 4:00 please respect her time and wait until the next day for requests.
