Monday the 28th

I have been watching a string of emails over the course of the afternoon in regards to outdoor masking and the changes beginning March 11th. All I am going to say is these have been highly confusing. Beginning tomorrow masks optional outdoors. Messaging will go out to families this evening.  As students go to their lunch recesses staff will encourage them to put it in a pocket or  continue to wear it with the mask pulled down under their chin. I will make an announcement tomorrow morning in regards to this. This is an option and some students may choose to wear a mask. Please reiterate this to your students. In the event they come in from recess having lost their mask, please have them put one on immediately upon return to your room. Do not have them wait outside before entering or send them to the office (we are often short staffed in here during lunches).  If you do not have any masks in your room please email Shannon. We have asked parents to send extras with their stu...

At this point if I have not talked to you then major changes are not in your horizon. I apologize for my lack of support this past week as we moved through this process. Between the SEGC work, facilities planning, staffing, evaluations there just isn't enough time in the day. I know you all feel the same way right now in your classroom...

Nightly News for February 24th

It was a bit of an exciting morning. I know I hit a few accidents and slick spots on the way in. My family had a two hour delay and then their districts called it a day. I admit I am very jealous. Anyway, for staff arriving by 8:45 there is no need to put in for time as we anticipated people arriving late. For those arriving after 8:45 please submit for the time you were out. For example if you arrived at 9:15 it would be .5 hours.  Staffing is almost there....I am now on to balancing glitches. Some more work this evening and hopefully tomorrow I can work with some experts to balance out. Thank you for your patience this week as this is worked on.  Next week is Read Across America Week!  This is a super fun event to celebrate a love of reading, and I hope that you and your classes will all participate!  I am putting together a spirit week for the event, as well as some reading incentives.   Classroom teachers: I will be puttin...

Nightly News for February 23rd

There was some confusion about ESL monitoring forms. Theresa is getting forms out now. We ask that these are returned as quickly as possible. They should not take more than about 2-3 minutes to fill out. We would like to send them off Monday. Next Tuesday the 1st is our FIT Assessment (Fidelity of Implementation through the MTSS office) . There will be a district team coming in for the entire day. They will be visiting some classrooms, interviewing PFSP and instructional staff, parents and students. We just finished up the schedule for this and will provide more details in the Weekly Forecast. Next Tuesday's staff meeting will be allotted for OSAS Testing and Review. Please make sure you have completed the first training for this . We provided a staff meeting for this purpose and it should be completed at this time. The exception would be some K-2 Homeroom Teachers. Please be on the look out for an email from Theresa in regards to this. The last 10 minutes 4:50 will be for PAT. ...

Nightly News for February 22nd

Darn it I missed the 2/22/22 memo. When the 3rd grade teacher I live with had a red and black tutu laying on the table last night I had to ask. If you did anything exciting in your rooms please share!  We had a lot of positions uncovered today, but we made it through. Just as an FYI the district office folk are only picking up one, possibly two jobs a week. The priority is given to schools with multiple unfilled absences and homeroom teachers only. I realize multiple emails a day on the status of coverage can be a bit much, but I want to ensure staff is aware when we will lack the ability to respond or support students and teachers.  Not much else to report tonight.

Weekly Forecast for February 21st-25th

Monday the 21st President's Day-No School Tuesday the 22nd No Staff Meeting Wednesday the 23rd Thursday the 24th Friday the 25th  Staffing Due PLCs will meet this week at their regular times Lunch Service - DaRosa, Brandt-Lazar, Cardwell, Schulze I hope you have all enjoyed the three day weekend on some level. I hunkered down and worked on staffing throughout the weekend.  I will be reaching out to people individually in regards to assignments for next year. Please know this is one of the most difficult tasks for me personally. It would be easy to look at the positions as simply a slot I fill, but I know each shift or move means potential stress and upheaval in someone's daily life. I also want to ensure as much support as possible for our staff and students. While we did not receive significant cuts, we do have some areas of loss. Please be mindful of discussion with your peers around staffing, etc. My goal is to retain as much of our staff as possible and sometimes...

Nightly News for February 16th

YIKES. I left work around 5:00 and delivered some items to a student and then came home and got to work on staffing and just realized I had not sent this! Sorry. It was a bit wild today. Tomorrow is a full moon I believe. Hold on.  Please see the attached letter regarding TNTP:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Kq3ItrH8vmKzcpfQ5HIR7YNoELBn7d7u/edit?rtpof=true&sd=true K-5 ESL  - starting next week K-5 ESL will be pulling students to practice, then test ELPA. There will not be ESL support in classrooms until after spring break.  Headphones - We have some extra headphones for student use. If you need some please email Theresa with a number. These will be prioritized for Lexia and Dreambox usage but, we likely have enough for anyone needing.  Middle School Teachers - Watch your email tomorrow. Theresa will be emailing lists of students who need to test during 2nd period by the end of homeroom. This is the last day she'll have a make up session. Students will...
