Nightly News for April 6th

Thank you Brenda for pulling off a successful VILS walk through and review. Also thank you to Ms.Wickstrom, Mr.Benson and Ms.Mitchell for sharing your spaces.  I will be sending out a form in regards to Buddy Classrooms in the Weekly Forecast or on Monday morning. Let me know if you have questions around this.  Middle School students have clubs tomorrow. Additionally, they will be attending the dance performances 6th period. Students should go to their 6th period class, take attendance and then come to the auditorium with their 6th period teacher. This includes dancers.

Nightly News for April 5th

No passes will be given out for middle school students during lunches for the next two days. The only exception is a CORE classroom teacher (LA, SS, Science, Math) needing a student to come in for a retake. In this case a single pass should be written with the student's name, date and teacher they are to report to. We gave some time (definitely not as much as we would have liked) a few weeks ago to update sub plans and folders. Please be sure to put in your plans that students are not allowed in your rooms during lunches/recesses etc. when you are not in the building.  Please be sure you are turning your extended hours from IEP meetings, etc. in on a weekly basis. Shannon tries to enter these in throughout the month.  Tomorrow night is our dance peformance for third quarter from 6:00-7:00. Please feel free to come! We will host a time from VILS (Verizon) tomorrow from approximately 1:00-3:30. They will be going into a few classrooms and meeting with identified staff. Pl...

Nightly News for April 4th

I want to give a huge appreciation to Emily during AP Appreciation Week. The enormity of  the work Harrison Park is taxing and her dedication to our students and staff is something I am grateful for.  As a reminder for all staff. Please be aware of leaving your personal valuables out. Wallets, purses, cell phones and other personal items of any value should be out of sight and locked up. Best practices would also be to ensure your phone is pass code protected and you have  a tracking feature (such as Find My Phone) on and enabled. Fortunately, I am not sending this out because items were actually stolen BUT we did have a student mess with an adult phone today. It was just a good time to bring this up. I have personally had my phone stolen two times in 25 years. Once here at HP. I was able to recoup said phone because of Find My Phone. In both cases I left it where students had access to it. Sadly students make poor decisions when the opportunity presents itself....

Nightly News for April 3rd

I will be out of the building tomorrow for a meeting and to complete Title compliance work. I am available by email and/or text.  Kara will be out tomorrow. Jill will do her best to support K-5.  Cadres will be held tomorrow. Please let Theresa know if you are not sure of your "location."  All K-5 invites for hallway/bathroom and cafeteria/recess expectation reviews have been sent out. Hallway/bathroom invites were followed up with an email in regard to the location. Cafeteria/Recess reviews will take place in the cafeteria.  My apologies for not putting in the Weekly Forecast that our new SUN term begins today. For some reason I had it in my mind it began next week.  No rehearsals for dance will take place tomorrow. All students should be in their regular classes.

I enjoyed a few days of very productive peace and quiet at home before they returned. I find Spring Break provides me with time to get things squared away for the end of the ye...

A big Bravo to Coach Carpenter and Ms. Moore who headed up Multicultural Night this year. They had many student helpers (see one of my pictures to prove it). I also want to thank the staff who signed up for this night event. I know this is a long week and we are all chomping at the bit to get to our break...thank you.  Tomorrow's K-5 assembly will run from 1:45-2:15. Middle school is 11:23-12:08. They will attend with their 3rd period teacher. If your class is opting not to attend the assembly please let me know.
