Morning Minute for May 1st

If you were not at our staff meeting today please take some time to look at the gallery walk posters in the staff lounge. They will be up through Friday. We are using these to provide ILT and Admin for some fodder as we plan for next year. We asked for authentic feedback, the good, the bad and even the ugly. I will be out at Instructional Rounds in the morning and will be back by 1:30.  A reminder that if you would like to support at Multicultural Night it is Thursday from 5:00-7:30. We can pay one and a half hours of extended time.  7th Grade Planning Meeting @ 8:20 tomorrow morning.

Morning Minute for April 30th

Spencer relayed a message earlier today around a student sending a message to the crisis hotline. We were able to determine who the student was and they are safe. This punctuates the need to be aware of students who may be exhibiting behaviors that seem to be different from their norm and/or are concerning and to make sure support staff are made aware if you have concerns. Additionally, as the end of the year approaches it is a good reminder to lock classroom and other spaces upon your departure. This is proactive in many ways.  We only have 83 of our rising 7th and 8th graders who have filled out the forecasting form. Advisory teachers please be sure to give students time for this task.  Thursday from 1:00-1:30 8th graders will have a presentation by either Franklin, or McDaniel around STEP Up Summer programming. Those headed to Franklin should report to the library, those headed to McDaniel will go to the Auditorium.   If students are not headed to either school pl...

Morning Minute for April 25th

Classroom teachers please prioritize taking this quick survey in regards to the use of Chromebooks for next year. We are strongly leaning towards classroom carts/sets to help maintain the limited resources we have. Simply put we will not be able to replace devices as they "crap" out and/or are lost or broken. I want to be proactive in finding ways to make what we have last as long as possible. This survey will help us make final decisions and plans for next year  2024-25 Classroom Chromebooks - Teacher Usage Some makeup testing will take place on Friday. See this message from Theresa:  On Friday I will be offering a make-up test session for Science testing during 2nd period. I understand this is last minute so if it doesn't work don't stress about sending the students. If it does, please send them with Chromebooks to the library. (I'll put hall passes in mailboxes.) Additional makeup testing will be offered on Monday and Tuesday.

Morning Minute for April 24th

Today we celebrate Shannon and Naima! Happy Administrative Professionals Day (4/24). Their work literally keeps us trucking!   As construction continues several additional issues/projects have come up. One of these is work in the library and music room. In an effort to ensure there is enough time to complete these projects by the beginning of the school year,  I have made the decision to close the library early in order for Inline to get a jump start on this work. This greatly increases the likely of having the library open as soon as school begins. With this in mind please reach out to Valerie with any book/resource needs you may have at the end of the year. The plan is for the library to close on May 27th for packing. Packing should conclude by Monday the 3rd and the library will be offline from that point on. Valerie and Naz can support with resources beyond these dates, but early communication will be needed. Valerie put this together: Here are some important dates: May 6-...

Morning Minute for April 19th

I have been making every effort to get into classrooms more and thus far have been having more success. This was the first step and  I have been largely working on a emails, etc.  when I come in. I have not taken notes or etc.  As an Admin team, our goal is to being more active walk throughs and providing feedback in the next week or so. Just wanted to let you know in the event I have been in your room recently. This week has been one of those that is just plain busy. I have had three late nights and have had very little time to answer emails, etc. I will be working on catching up as much as possible in the next few days. Just a heads up in the event I missed something.  We are looking to update our supply list for next year. Additionally, we want to ask for input from staff to determine if there are things we should add. If you have any feedback, needs, etc. please direct an email to Shannon and CC me. Here is what we currently have: Supplies Provided For All Studen...

Morning Minute for April 12th

Thank you for your attendance this morning. Please be sure to finish up designated supports for students. As a team this should take about 15-30 minutes at most. Our hope was to get the majority done this morning. We realize there was about 15 minutes today, so hopefully you got a good jump on it.  Natalia will be doing her own. Be sure to look at all of the tabs for your grade level to ensure students have all the supports they may need. 8th grade has to be completed by Saturday as they begin testing on Monday.  A reminder we are on the PM Assembly Schedule tomorrow (listed below)  Shout out to Karen Kempster for continuing to provide students for badges/stickers if they do not have their lanyard.
