IT is Friday. I am thankful for this week with you all.  ILT met this morning and we decided upon conference dates. The district originally had the 11th and 12th as designated dates and allowed buildings to determine the other two nights. They have changed this to just the 11th as a mandated date with the other three dates being decided by buildings. Conferences will run after a full day of teaching from 4:30-7:30 to allow for a 30 minute dinner break. Please make any arrangements needed in regards to childcare etc. We will discuss this more as a staff next Tuesday.  We have not been able to finalize our grades. We hope to do this in the morning. As was sent out yesterday, if a student comes to you and is not on your attendance please send them to the counselors. The counselors will reach out to you to let you know that this may be because they will EVENTUALLY be in your class when we can make changes. We are starting Quarter 2 tomorrow. Please anticipate there will be confusion especially for 6th graders who are starting a new wheel class. We will have schedules printed out for 6th graders only. If 7th and 8th graders need schedules, we will print them out as needed. Assistance will be available in the lobby for students.  We will be doing our November Fire Drill tomorrow at 9:45. This will be the last 15 minutes of 1st period. We have to get this done tomorrow. I know it is not ideal.  Boxes are on the way. Boxes are only for those people moving classes.  Alas one more reason I appreciate your patience in waiting to begin Q2 until tomorrow. This is from some district communication:  Currently, Q1 in Canvas is open until December 8th, which allows teachers time to complete their grading in Canvas and for students to complete assignments.   We are canceling 7th Grade Kid Chat this week to allow more time for grading.  I am sure there are lanyard questions. Please feel free to send those my way and I will do a Q&A update for Advisory.  Please refer all locker questions to Spencer.  I have been working with our project managers, my supervisor, etc. to manage the impending move over Winter Break. Unfortunately, the shortened break will increase the amount of stress this work causes. I am doing my very best to problem solve and make this workable for everyone involved. Please know we will do our best to ensure time is given and compensation according to the contract etc. will be given. Thank you for your work today. I know it was not the time we all wanted for the transition back. Our goal was to try and give PAT members at least one day to get their bearings. Tomorrow should be utilized to communicate grades, allow time to wrap up the end of the Quarter 1 and tie up any loose ends left before November 1st. It is good to be back with you all. I am trying to send this out before I head home for the night. Please remember to check your email a little more frequently tomorrow in the event things pop up.  Picture Retake schedule will be out in the morning (I didn't have it as of "press time"). Please note you do not need to take your entire class for retakes. I cannot tell you how excited I am for tomorrow. I know it will likely be a day with some tears, frustrations and of course JOY. There will not be time for a lot of dialog tomorrow and I know over the next few weeks we will need to have more conversation around the strike, new contract language, adjusted schedules etc. We will have these in the coming weeks, but for tomorrow our focus will be on welcoming you all back as well as our students. We will  continue the work of building a great middle school together. Please know Spencer, Regina and I are proud to serve you all.  Here is an outline of tomorrow's schedule ( Monday's Schedule .)
