Morning Minute for Wednesday the 29th
- We are canceling 7th Grade Kid Chat this week to allow more time for grading.
- I am sure there are lanyard questions. Please feel free to send those my way and I will do a Q&A update for Advisory.
- Please refer all locker questions to Spencer.
- I have been working with our project managers, my supervisor, etc. to manage the impending move over Winter Break. Unfortunately, the shortened break will increase the amount of stress this work causes. I am doing my very best to problem solve and make this workable for everyone involved. Please know we will do our best to ensure time is given and compensation according to the contract etc. will be given. I will hold a meeting for all of those impacted as soon as I have a few more answers. I will began sending emails out on Tuesday afternoon to let people know of their new locations.
- MICE. The irony of this is not lost on me (I saw the recent footage of the infamous PPS rat). That being said we know they are in the building (ask Georgie). Our night custodians have pointed out they noticed a lot of food items left out in classrooms that are attracting the creatures. Please try to find a secure location for food items you have in your room (i.e. a plastic tub) or try to avoid storing large quantities. I have goodies on my shelf and need to do the same.
- Affinity Spaces- Our hope was to begin Affinity spaces at the start of the new quarter, we are planning on starting groups the week of December 4th. Affinity spaces will run during lunches as not to impact student learning time and to allow all students, including those riding the bus, to attend. Please note these groups are self-selected and students who want to attend will be given the option to do so via a Google Doc. We will provide them with passes to attend. We will begin with 7th and 8th graders first and invite 6th graders during 3rd quarter.
Those students who attend will need to leave their Advisory class at 1:20. They will grab their lunch, eat and then head to the space identified for their group. This will be shared with them when they get their lunch as it may change frequently. Affinity Groups will run from 1:20-2:07. Students should be on time to their 6th period class.

- A heads up that Web Leaders will be out class 4th period on December 6th. They will also be out to do some work with 6th grade SS classes on December 12th. This will be shared out late next week, but it will they will be missing a period or so throughout the day. Finally, on December 19th they will be out of their 4th period class to host a 6th grade lunch check in. Students will be asked to complete any missing assignments they may have as a result of their absences. Please communicate with Dan Carpenter if there is something they cannot miss on one of these days from your class.
