Morning Minute for September 29th

I wanted to update everyone on next week's original plans to show Screenagers during 4th period (6th) and 5th period (7th/8th). We know there is a lot going on and decided to slow down on this a bit to allow time for the counselors to provide some frontloading. Just wanted to communicate out for planning purposes. We will have normal advisory next week.  If you are like me you plan your week on the weekends. I would like to hold a pot luck brunch for our PD on late start this Wednesday. No one is obligated to bring anything, but I think it will be a fantastic way to start our PD.  Classroom teachers:   If you were unable to attend, it is very important that you have your Securly set up to automatically start by this Friday.  Block List:  Search the block list directory for " Blocked Sites ."  This is Elin's block list and is pretty comprehensive, Scheduled Times:   Be sure to use the times in  THIS DOCUMENT   when setting up your Securly...

Morning Minute for September 28th

We will be putting a flyer with instructions in your mailboxes tomorrow (Thursday).  How to Use the Language Line For the following languages you can call directly: Somali, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese from 8:00-4:30. Numbers for these languages are on the flyer you will receive. Need to communicate with a parent/family who speaks a language other than English? The district now works with Language Access Services and in my opinion it is easier to use than in past years. Here is a step by step: Have parent/guardian contact information (Name and phone number) Dial 855-238-0222 Provide your first and last name Provide the contract # PS93322 Provide school Info Provide language needed It will take a moment for them to get someone on the line. They  will walk you through everything from here.  In addition, we are fortunate to have several staff members who can also support with calls to families at times. Please see your staff  phone directory (languages listed t...

I heard it was a busy day. Thank you to everyone for stepping in and holding things together. I thought I would be able to head back in after we saw my daughter off, but chose to take care of myself and family for the remainder of the day. She is off to Saint Vincent for the next three months and will head to Zambia or Malawi in January. It was definitely a lot harder than I thought it would be. I am proud, excited, anxious and sad all at once. I am sure the next few weeks will take some adjusting! MAP Testing - Theresa is out of the building on Wednesday. If help is needed during testing most answers can be found on the MAP Growth Testing Document that has been shared. If you can't find the answer there please TEXT THERESA at 503.407.7326 for the quickest response .  Attendance Info/Support- Staff if you have students with you during the course of the day please be sure that their teachers are aware so it does not interfer with attendance. Yesterday,  the office h...

Morning Minute for September 26th

Bus Drills are today (or tomorrow depending on when you are reading this). Below are videos that need to be shared with your 1st period classes prior to going out to the bus. The district is sending seven buses and we are fairly certain we can fit all our students on them at one time. Please wait until the overhead announcement is made and then make your way to the buses. Historically they are located in the cafeteria parking lot. This may be a bit different this year. Everyone will need to come through the lobby as it is so we will have someone direct from there. Schoene, Jernigan, and Coggins please leave your classes at 9:30  (since you don't get the announcements).  Spencer and Regina will direct teachers to buses as they exit the building.  Please note the timing of this is not ideal, especially with our testing schedule. We will do our best to be done by 10:52. Please have students leave their belongings in their 1st period class (the exception would be those in th...

Thank you for everyone pitching in today. Three appointments checked off the list! I will be in all day Friday. I heard our 6th graders were a bit active yesterday. Thank you Zach for your excellent heads up.  We have our 6th Grade Mixer today (Friday) from 4:00-5:00. We are unable to offer extended pay, but I am sure if you stay to support you will have plenty of fodder for the weekend. I love Middle School socials. This event takes place from 4:00-5:00.  If you have a student needing translation of a text on their Chromebook try the Snap and Read Extension.  You can use Snap and Read.
