Morning Minute for Tuesday the 29th- First Day of School

WOW. It is 4:45 and I just finished walking through the building. I was prepared to be here until at least six tonight, but it looks like everyone is good to go. What a difference a few days makes. YOU GUYS GOT THIS! Get a good night's sleep (I hope you slept well if you are seeing this on Tuesday morning). I am absolutely impressed with how much you accomplished.
  • Remember to wear your Harrison Park tomorrow (Tuesday)
  • We will hold an optional spirit prep party for anyone interested in making some pom poms (the ones I had on hold were not the right color) or other items to welcome our 6th graders into the building beginning at 8:30 in the lobby.
  • Please be aware that slides/links for our first three days of school will be 100% ready to go one day in advance. For example slides/links for Wednesday should be good to go by 9:00 tomorrow morning. Any handouts for students will be put in your box by the morning of said activity (it may be sooner, but please check your mailbox every morning).
  • We will not be taking period attendance tomorrow. We will begin taking attendance Wednesday.
  • I will be sending out a separate email around tomorrow's duties. Please note that 6th grade CORE teachers are asked to be in the cafeteria for the 6th grade assembly.  The rest of the staff will have assignments that may include greeting students, cheering students as they walk in, etc. We will be tasking out items as they come up. We anticipate extra district support especially in the morning, but will likely ask for people to support with dismissal etc. It is a situation where we might not know what we need until we need it. That being said, PAT members please be sure to get your 45 minute prep in,  your 30 minute lunch and you preview the slides for Wednesday. We hope we can provide you with additional time to wrap up loose ends, but may ask for support throughout the day.  PFSP please be sure to take your lunch and your two 15 minute breaks.
  • We will not be starting PLCs up until the week of 11th. Until then the extra time should be used check in and connect with teammates, reach out for support, offer support to one another, review slides/activities (through the end of this week), review Advisory lessons, etc.
  • ECPPs should have been submitted by the end of the day Monday (the 28th). Syllabus' can be turned in by the 5th.
  • We will be putting up emergency maps in the next day or so. Regina has finished them up but we need to highlight your exit area and post in your rooms. Please note the update: Regina was able to get evacuation maps out yesterday late afternoon. If she didn't touch base with you she left it in your room. Please hang this up near your door and review it so you know your exit location.
  • First day packets have been delivered to all Homeroom/Advisory teachers  (we will use this term interchangeably) We have included a large collection envelope with a class list attached for you to check off students that turn in forms.  Please collect forms until September 11th and then turn them into the office.  Please keep the green walking field trip forms for your records. We will put together a master list of kids with walking field trip forms eventually.
  • T-shirts have also been delivered to 7th period classes.  DO NOT HAND THESE OUT UNTIL 7th PERIOD THURSDAY. Please secure these in a safe location in your room. We will provide instructions on distribution on Thursday.
  • Please utilize the parking next to the cafeteria and the small lot behind the building. The front lot is for specific staff members only and visitors. We ask that you do not park in this location.
