Summer Forecast #2

  • We were told after your departure that TSI (Targeted Support Intervention) schools will be given funding for an Professional Development on August 20th. This can not be mandatory per the PAT contract, but staff are encouraged to attend if possible. Staff will be paid extended hours if they attend. We will be holding this PD at McDaniel High School. Lunch will be provided. Our goal for this training is to give grade level teams time to collaborate for half of the day. The rest of the agenda will be planned in the next few weeks. I sent out Google Calendar invite. Please respond yes if you can attend so we can use it for a head count for lunch. If you have any questions please reach out.
  • Construction Update- I have been in several times this summer and it feels like things are moving slowly on the construction front. There were several unforeseen issues that required additional permits etc. For example, the work on the front parking lot started on the Wednesday after you all left. By Friday, the lot was completely tore up and grading had started BUT there was a dry well discovered. This had to be checked out by DEQ and work needed to stop until we got approval from them. This FINALLY happened last week. Work started back up on Monday. There have been some additional shifts and I will share out to impacted inviduals before I make announcements here. The gym and cafeteria floors are done! The SPED wing and new classrooms (in the old shop area) are basically done. Other work continues. I have had a few people ask when they can get in. The answer is no one will be allowed into the building until August 14th at the earliest.
  • Hiring Update- We are fully hired as of right now. Please welcome:
Cheryl McClure- PE
Zach Vestal- Math
Martin Lindenmeyer- Science (Wellington's leave)

  • We will talk more about committees etc. upon our return. We are currently looking for Climate Team members.      If you are interested  in attending and checking things out please let me know. Three and a half hours of extended pay will be available.
  • Math Teachers you should have received this in an email from the district, but in the event you did not:
PPS is hosting Summer Institute on August 13th & 14th (location TBD) from 8:30am - 3:30pm.  Teachers will be paid extended hours for participating.
