Nightly News for March 21st

  • Thank you for making our lock down drill quick and effective. There are a few classrooms we will visit tomorrow (hopefully) to revisit expectations. Additionally, we saw a few problem areas that will need to be addressed, but overall things went smoothly. A few reminders for the good of the order.
All adults need to participate. If you are not directly responsible for students at the time of a drill (or in the case of a real event) you should have lights out, the door locked and remain quiet in an inconspicuous place.

Classrooms should remain hidden within the room and not on the carpet in a circle until after the second visit when someone comes to unlock the door.

After any drill we should be turning in an attendance sheet. In the event of a real emergency, one will be needed to determine who was not actually in the building that day. Today we asked for attendance sheets to be sent to the office after the drill. This was a good opportunity to remind everyone of the need to have an updated attendance sheet for all classes in our emergency folders. If you did not have one please be sure to print one. If you sent one to the office THANK YOU (and now remember to print a new one) .

  • Here are some general pieces of information in regard to moving etc. from today.
Those moving to Clark will be paid for up to eight hours to pack their items and an additional eight hours to unpack. Several people remaining at Harrison Park may fall into this category. We will work closely with PAT and Facilities to ensure we are following contract language around moves. Boxes for personal items are in the staff lounge. Boxes for district materials etc. are in the large custodial storage area next to the cafeteria. Boxes are supposed to be on site two weeks in advance...we have this one beat! We hope to have room assignments at both buildings completed by April 17th. Harrison Park staff may be a bit later as we finalize construction plans for the summer.

  • Ramadan begins tomorrow night. As I mentioned we do have places for students who ask to pray and alternative locations for kids during lunches. These plans will be fluid and flexible based on student needs.
  • Thank you to the staff who signed up to help at Multicultural Night. We will be reaching out with "assignments" for the evening. I am putting the sign up list back on the counter in the office for those who were not at staff meeting. As a reminder this is one of our two required night events. Staff can opt to attend Multicultural Night or Promotion as their second night event. Promotion will be June 13th.
  • The middle school assembly will be held during club time on Friday (11:23-12:08). K-5 can choose to attend the assembly from 1:45-2:15ish.
  • If your class has Multicultural items to share on Thursday night, please let Emily or me know so we can ensure we have tables and a location for your classes' items.
  • Kara is hosting CHAMPS support sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. She will be ready to roll on Thursday morning.
