Summer Forecast #3
The rush is on. Unfortunately, my To Do list is not shrinking, but growing. The mantra I have at this time of year is, ¨No matter what is left undone, the students will come and they will be happy and it will be okay."
There is a lot to update you on, but we will be patient and wait until next Wednesday on a few things.
- Staff can access the building at this time. Please note that rooms should be ready to go. Bathrooms and some other common areas have not been finished. If you choose to come into the building please be aware that it is an active construction site and contractors are in and out of spaces and there is some noise. As of right now the front parking lot is not accessible. The cafeteria parking lot has limited parking and to be honest I would not park there because of dust and the risk of heavy equipment, construction debris etc. The best place to enter would be the doors near the gym or the blue doors near the small playground. The office is currently located in Room 185 (under the stairs) and families are being asked to register etc. by entering the door that faces the small playground. If you come to the building and have an issue please feel free to text Emily or me.
- For those of you who are choosing to come in on non contract days please be mindful that the custodians are on crunch time and have a lot of work to do still. Construction has put a kink in their normal summer routines. We ask that you allow them to focus on their work. If you are moving things in etc. you will need to bring your own muscle. Please plan on being out of the building no later than 5:00 through next Tuesday. I will update you on hours for next Wednesday-Friday. The water will be turned off next Monday until 10:30 or so.
- We will be meeting next Wednesday and Thursday at McMenaminś Edgefield property in Troutdale. The address is 2126 SW Halsey St, Troutdale Oregon 97060. We will be located in the ballroom of the main building. A map is attached in this email. I could not get it to load on this Blog. We will begin with breakfast and coffee both days @ 8:00. Lunch will be on your own. We will be giving you an hour and half for lunch each day in hopes you use the time to connect with your peers. Please note on Thursday some staff members will need to attend district trainings. If you have questions in regards to this please feel free to email me to clarify.
- We will be sending a more defined agenda for next week Monday. Please plan on being in PD Wednesday and Thursday. Friday you will have half a day to work on climate plans with your teams, etc. the other half of the day will be yours to work in your spaces. Monday is a work day.
- PFSP many of you will have a training on Monday morning at the BESC. I will be working with you to talk about duties etc. for Friday and Monday afternoon. Please plan on attending professional development days at Edgefield next Wednesday and Thursday.

- We will be holding a final summer Happy Hour Soiree at my home on Wednesday the 24th after our PD @ Edgefield. I live about six minutes away and am excited to host. More details next Monday.
- We are hearing that classroom technology is getting updated in the next couple weeks. Kenneth was asked to have staff fill out this survey before the update. He let them know you are all still ot for the summer, but they are still asking for us to push it out. So, take this survey if you so chose. https://forms.gle/

- We are still finishing up some hiring and as of today we have had even more shifts. Emily and Theresa are focusing on organizing PD, getting schedules finalized, etc. Shannon is ordering up a storm, Naima is a registering machine and I now work for Human Resources. All kidding aside I am working on ensuring we are fully staffed for the first day. It has been a busy summer and I am excited to share updates with you next week.
