Nightly News for August 23rd

My watch has told me numerous times today to do some breathing. I am SOOOO thankful we had the fore site to hold our PD elsewhere because if we were here we would be HOT and even more distracted than normal. I know everyone is anxious to get into their spaces and get things ready. My little buddy Clyde is learning to go to his ¨Feelings Tent¨ when he needs some alone time or needs to process. I know many of you may be feeling nervous, anxious, excited, etc. Please know we will do this work together and we will all manage our feelings around the beginning of the year in different ways. Be mindful of your colleagues tomorrow. I know many of you had a summer full of loss and struggle, while others were able to decompress and fully rejuventate.

Clyde is his ¨Feelings Tent¨

We are looking forward to alignment growth for all of our students, and in many ways ourselves this year. Tomorrow we will scratch the surface of the work we have ahead of us this year. We will also go over ¨nuts and bolts¨ and logistics a bit. Be prepared to soak a lot in and know if you need more time to process Thursday may allow for that. Sleep well. I am excited to see everyone.

  • Please remember everyone will be at McMenamins tomorrow. The room is available at 7:30ish. We will be ready to greet you all at 7:45. We will have breakfast/coffee available at 8:00 and anticipate beginning our day around 8:30. We will be in the main buildingś ballroom. Edgefield is located at 2126 SE Halsey St, Troutdale 97060. Bus 21 and 77 drop off here.
  • Lunch will be on your own from 11:30-1:00. There are several restaurants on site (please order as soon as possible as they are not know for speed). We will also go over a few local restaurants/food carts nearby.
  • We will conclude at 4:00. At this time we plan on heading down to Staleyś in the basement for Happy Hour. There are darts, pool tables, etc. in this area. We may decide to fly by the seat of our pants and head to The Red Shed...let´s see what the weather is like.
  • Please be sure to bring your charged device, headphones, a paper and something to write on...just to be safe. For PFSP staff and new staff we will have a device for you tomorrow.
