You know how you read stuff online and one second you totally believe something and then you read something else and you do a complete about face? That is kind of how I am feeling right now. Communication on Thursday night from the district led me to believe there was a very good chance we would be going back to online learning. Emily, Theresa, Dave and I spent part of Friday working on schedules, communications, etc. to prepare for this. Then the district wide admin meeting @ 4:00 kind of sent a different message. My takeaway from that meeting was they will be making decisions building by building.
What that means right now is we should still prepare for "what if we go into distance learning", but it may or may not happen.

  • I sent an email out a bit ago asking for anyone who gets a substitute when they are out to put it into AESOP as soon as possible. Shannon checked the report yesterday and will be doing so later today, as well as later this evening, to keep me updated. For those employees that do not get a substitute I am asking you to text me (503.545.9463) and if possible to email Shannon, Emily and I. This evening I will be filling out a form for the district that shows our true outage number. They had been going by AESOP reports only, but realized that support staff (EAs, Admin, Counselors, Nutrition Services, Custodians, etc.) are not reflected in these numbers and this also has a huge impact on buildings and students. For this reason I want accurate information so I can share it out early. Another reason having this information early is important is it allows us to begin making plans for coverage.
  • I want to thank ALL staff for your work last week. I know some discipline, meditations, etc. did not occur as much as we would have liked, but I believe people tapped into their skills and problem solved well. Thank you for prioritizing calls to the office. I saw several classes reviewing expectations and overall hallway behavior was good.
  • PLCs will most likely focus on planning for distance learning. Theresa will message out. We will plan for now to hold PLCs but may need to look at this a bit more if we don't have coverage etc.
  • On that topic, I am keeping track of those who have specials and lose out on prep time. If you believe you will be falling under 320 minutes please alert me. I am trying to track this.
  • We had a second fire inspection walk through and it was noted there are still a few rooms that need this violation below completed.  Please take some time to complete this by the end of the day Jan. 11th if this is a violation in your room.
1) PROVIDE WALK ON PROTECTION FOR POWER CORDS IN WALKING PATHS IN ROOMS THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING.

I am sure I am missing things this morning, but am going to move into contact tracing and other COVID related work. You may want to check email later this evening in the event we have more info to share. Enjoy the sun. It is a beautiful day out.
