The rain sure put a hamper on my weekend plans. I spent all day Saturday deep cleaning and purging my kitchen instead of going to a big plant sale. Boo. I suppose it is good to have some down time as the next few weeks will be busy!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I hope you realize how thankful we are for your work every day, not just one week throughout the year. We hope you enjoy several goodies this week to celebrate your work.
- I know grade level teams are making plans for the last few days of school. I want to get a read on when people expect to have the majority of their student work, instruction etc. end. I am by no means saying "Let's stop teaching on June 3rd". There is a delicate balance at the end of the year around ensuring we are keeping kids learning/engaged so they don't come undone and also recognizing there are many interruptions etc. For this reason I am going to send out yet another GoogleForm to be filled out for some input. Please note this is a "speak now so you can have a voice" situations. This will not be anonymous as I do want to look for trends among grade levels, content areas, etc. I am asking for it to be completed by Tuesday morning so we can use it to solidify some things at the end of year and use the information prior to Tuesday's staff meeting. There is a request to hold a STEAM event during the day for students. This would potentially be during the school day on a special schedule. - If you know you will be out during the morning from May 13th-20th please let Theresa know ASAP so we can make arrangements for testing. Thank you to those who have already done so.
- Please be thinking ahead as May 15th is the final day for classroom spending for supplies etc. Shannon's last day is June 21st and with deadlines for the purchase card etc. we will need to put in some very hard deadlines. Last year she had several days worth of work that extended beyond her contract time and I do not want to put anyone in this position. This is not for end of the year items purchased for last day events etc. we will put information out on those deadlines soon.
- I have a meeting this week to start solidifying classroom move and packing instructions due to construction. I will share out ASAP.
- The heat is coming. I know that a few teachers in the new rooms reported some issues with not being able to cool their rooms down on Friday. I did share with Inline and have asked for them to get on it as soon as possible.
