I am feeling a little rough today.  Other than hanging out with my grandpa today, and ensuring he isn't too bored, I am laying low. I plan on coming in tomorrow, and am hoping to be on the upswing. We all know colds and COVID are going around...I tested so it is just a cold. Keep healthy. Spring Break is just two weeks away! How will you rejuvenate?

  • Ramadan begins this evening. We may have more requests for prayer spaces and will communicate out if this is the case. I found this article insightful: RamadanTips (it will have a link to redirect you as an FYI). If you have any suggestions, concerns or questions please reach out to Leah.
  • We will offer the library as an alternative to being in the lunch room during Ramadan.
  • ELPA will continue in all of Min's classes and Natalia's 1st period. This will take the library offline for some periods.
  • SEED training needs to be done by everyone by 3/17. OSAS Training by 4/9/24. Theresa, our testing coordinator,  sent emails to anyone who did incorrect training or partial training. Testing will happen in Advisory classes. EVERYONE not just Advisory teachers will support in classrooms or lead small group testing. Please take care of this as time has been given for this purpose.
  • ELA and Math PLCs will participate in peer observations. (Look for Emails from Theresa with assignments and details.) A BIG thank you to anyone willing to let a peer observe. This is a non-judgemental process to see different instructional strategies and our students in different spaces. Please do not feel you need to do anything different than you would on a day-to-day basis for these visits.
  • On Tuesday we reviewed some referral data and discussed some shifts we can make to help support potential changes in student behavior. There was some time given to discuss and work with an accountability partner. We will take some time next Tuesday the 19th to discuss.
Option One- Look at the last 2-3 days of instruction. What opportunities were students given to discuss and/or interact and engage with content. Action Research- If I provide more opportunities for students to talk/discuss will it cut down on excessive talking which in turn can lead to mild defiance or following directions?
Option Two- Choose a focus student. This would be a Black male in our case. It likely would be a student that may have struggled with behaviors of concerns. Plan a lesson leaning on their strengths or designed to engage them specifically.

  • There is a request for volunteers and/or entrances into the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade that takes place on April 27th. Here is some information:

We need a great number of “Minders” who watch at every cross street between SE Holgate and SE Yamhill on 82nd Avenue. Volunteers receive t-shirts, entry to the Vintage Car show and much love and appreciation from the community!

If you prefer, we can organize a team to volunteer together. Check out Team Volunteering on our Field Day site here: Field Day 82 Roses Community Enrichment or simply email me at: 82RosesParadeVolunteer@gmail.com
