Morning Minute for February 8th

  • Special thanks to Valerie and Naz for allowing us to take over the library today for Instructional Rounds. Additional thanks to the teachers in the classrooms we visited. I will get some general feedback out as soon as I have some focused time. I will say we did get positive feedback around student behavior, school climate and classroom management. Bravo. There were many other positives I want to share as well as some areas for growth. I feel it was a productive round. Thank you.
  • A reminder that the assembly for Thursday is an AM assembly. This is because we have some conflicts with our performers and costumes. Our  8th grade MIP students are performing at Woodstock on Friday and our 7th graders will be headed to Clark to perform. Additionally, they are helping with tomorrow's HP assembly. Students should head to the assembly with their 2nd period teacher at 10:40.  Students should leave their backpacks and items in their lockers or 2nd period class. We will not let classes into the auditorium until their teacher is present. We ask staff who have a 2nd-period Prep to join in the auditorium at 10:39 to assist in supporting students. At the completion of the assembly students will return to their 2nd period class to pick up their belongings. We will ensure the assembly is over on time so students have ample time to pick up their stuff and get to 3rd period on time.
  • We are sending this out to students tomorrow via Advisory, but wanted you to be alert in the event you do not oversee an Advisory class. Students are not allowed to use delivery services for lunch etc. We had this happen today and it will open up a box of trouble.
  • Staff and Community Partners if you are pulling a student for additional support, a meeting, etc. please be sure you have let the teacher whose class it impacts know. For example a student comes to you and wants support during passing time. They should be sent to class and then can come back once they have checked in with their teacher. They need to have a pass from you stating they are welcome to come back and a signed pass from the teacher's class they are leaving. We are running into attendance issues and errant kids. This can also be part of middle school triangulation. If you have a student in need and they need to remain with you please let the classroom teacher know you have them and/or alert the office. We will discuss more at our next staff meeting if needed.
  • Please be vigilant about being in the halls during passing time. Standing next to your door so you can see in the class and in the hall is best.
  • Love is in the air. Take in the middle school romance. It is going to bring some chuckles and sighs in the next few days.
