Morning Minute for February 20th

  • Superintendent Husk was in the building for about 45 minutes this morning. I am not one for cameras and fanfare so was thankful the media wasn't here...PPS Communications was. I found her to be very approachable and engaged. She sent her regards to everyone and wishes she could have gotten into every classroom. It was great to have some face time to discuss some specific Harrison Park plans!
  • I am going to the California Association of Bilngual Educators Conference. This was a last minute offer and I need to take advantage . an opportunity to learn about additional ways to support our MIP and ESL programs, students and you all. I will be here in the morning, but will head out around 1:15. I return late Friday night. I will be available by phone (503.545.9463...text is best) and email throughout the trip. You are in good hands with Spencer, Regina and the rest of our support team.
  • Chukwu is BACK. I failed to mention this yesterday because I didn't want to curse anything! Welcome back. We have missed your proactive work!
  • spontaneously made an announcement today when I read about 5-7 unfilled positions at several PPS middle schools today. I want to thank all of you for being present today and every day. It is appreciated. Big props to Heather Cooper who apparently missed a Madonna concert last night to be here today. WOW. Just wow.
  •  SUN's Family Activity Night on Thursday 2/22 starts at 5pm. I mistakenly put 6:00 in my communications yesterday.  The event will be 5-7pm and it should be really fun! If you would like to come and support our students and families that night extended pay is available. Please let me know.
  • There is an after school event the 1st. With a very catchy name...except I can't remember it exactly, Heartbeat Hustle?  Anyway, this does overlap w/ McDaniel's request for chaperones. Why not make it a night of teen spirit? We will provide an hour of extended pay to those who support our event.
