Morning Minute for February 14th
- Thank you for your presence at Staff Meeting. I know it is tough to hear of impending cuts. I have been anxious about staffing for the last month and right now all I want to do is lock myself in a room and not come out until it is done. Every year I tell myself I need to get it and then go to the beach and sit in a hotel room by myself to focus. Please reach out if you have questions. Again, we will begin checking in with people as we can have specifics.
- 8th Grade Kid Chat in Benson's Room @ 8:20
- Tomorrow will be our first Valentine's Day as a true middle school. Be prepared for some squeals, tears, and hilarious antics of our students who are just being middle schoolers. I personally can not wait to watch the day unfold.
- I meant to share this in Staff Meeting today, but got sidetracked. Conni is working with Elin to translate some of the Advisory sheets i.e. SMART goals, GPA calculations, etc into different languages. As they are completed, the forms can be found in the HP Shared Drive under AVID and in a folder labeled Advisory Masters/Interpreted Docs. Conni and the Leadership students count and provide these sheets for your classroom beforehand. As you use the time set aside in your schedule to prep for Advisory, please print off any copies available in other languages to use with your ESL students. As we started SMART goals this week, please use time during WIN on Thursday for students to finish them. Conni will be coming around during 4th and 5th period on Friday to give out a treat to students who have finished their goals and put them in their binder in the plastic sleeve.
- As discussed today, in Advisory for next week you will see BHM/Content time on the calendar for Mon, Tues, Wed of next week. The idea is for you to have a chunk of time to work on the BHM project from the WEB class. You may pick any one of the three days to do the project and use the other two days to do all content. Using two days including Advisory time for all content will be a swap on time. Advisory partners, please check in with each other so both of you can be available to support students with this meaningful activity.
