We made it. I did not think when we walked away on Friday the 12th we would not return until the 22nd. While the family time was nice, and the second week of Winter Break seemed to have happened, I know the stress of the end of the term and the crunch for time are going to smack us back into reality Monday morning. We will make adjustments as needed.
I am thankful the building fared well. We had a few leaks that were quickly remedied. A hatch blew open above the cafeteria and another area sustained a few leaks but overall nothing major. This was not the case in some PPS schools. I know Robert Grey will be shut down for at least the rest of this next week and a few others will be out for additional time as well.
- Monday the admin team will meet to discuss shifts to the schedule for the next week or so. This will include MAPS testing, Thursday's schedule, etc. Please be patient as we work through these reschedules. I would like some input prior to making decisions.
- We do know we will MAPS test on Tuesday. This will not have an impact on the overall schedule, but kids who are not finished will be pulled out of classes. This is a significant number in 8th grade. Just a heads up.
- Advisory teachers and partners, we are asking for you to make phone calls or attempt to reach out to the families you have in Advisory who were scheduled for Conferences last Wednesday. These in person conferences will now take place Tuesday. We will send school wide communication out later this evening, but feel a personal call or email with their student's assigned time would be helpful. Here is the link to the Conference Schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UTq4_qBKkld-TUjtVGPEwEEMyescSfJHzGg25A3V1js/edit?usp=sharing
- We are reviewing Advisory Slides for this week and making last minute adjustments. I have some errands I need to get to this morning (I can finally leave my house) and will be back later this afternoon to get some additional work done. Tomorrow's slides will be reminders of building wide expectations. Please go over your classroom expectations with all classes tomorrow as well. As with any "break" this is best practices.
- A reminder that we do expect students to wear their lanyards. Their ID needs to be visible (they can have it hanging out of their pocket if we can see the actual ID). If they do not have a lanyard 1st period teachers should provide them with a name badge. Please let the office know if you need more.
- We will officially begin Dead Week on Wednesday the 24th. This will allow two days, if needed, for additional assignments etc. to wrap up the quarter. Our hope is grades can be completed by the morning of January 30th. I realize contractually you have until 12:00 that night to complete grades. We will work with all staff to complete grades by the morning of the 30th so we can make needed schedule changes on the 30th/31st and begin the 3rd term in earnest by the 1st. More information once we garner input and sit down and discuss a bit more.
- As of right now Thursday the 25th is still identified as a late start day. The admin team will finalize plans for this time Monday and share out. We are still in discussion on the schedule for the day.
