Morning Minute for Wednesday January 3rd

Whew. I hope your day felt successful. I was able to check in with all but two classes this morning. Kids let me know "it looks like a hospital" and "it smells like a hospital". I also heard "It is so...white". We had the expected glitches such as lack of bells and a toilet that didn't flush, but overall it went smoothly.
  • We are aware there are some issues with bells not being audible in classrooms. If you are not hearing bells in your room please let Shannon know so we can report specifics to the contractors.
  • A reminder we have a Fire Drill tomorrow at 2:15. We will work on getting info out before said drill tomorrow.

  • Here is a link to a sheet to report furniture needs and/or issues in new classrooms. This list may include requests to hang items (i.e. flags from the ceiling), faulty door latches, glitchy windows, etc. I will be working with the contractors to address things as they can. Room Needs
  • For those of you in the new "wing" please be mindful of what you are using on walls. Our preference would be to use orange/blue tape and other items that will not cause permanent damage. This is especially true if you are not in your permanent space.  If you are finding you need an additional tack board, etc. please fill out the above link (Room Needs) and we can work on the possibility of installing an additional one. Please do not put thumbtacks or items into the ceiling. Each tile costs $200 and unlike the old style ceiling panels they do not "self heal". Any holes put into these tiles will remain The contactors have said they would like to help us with hanging items of more permanent nature (again use the Room Need form).
  • Conference invites will be mailed out tomorrow and should be in parents hands by Friday or Saturday. Here is a link to the schedule: ConferenceSchedule
  • FYI this will be held at Clark nearby: MESD will be holding a First Aid/CPR/AED training at our school on 1/8/24 from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm. This is a two-part training with a series of self-paced online modules which take about 3 hours to complete plus the 1 hour in-person training on Monday 1/8/24. Please note that the modules need to be completed before the in-person training on Monday.

Once registered, a link will be sent to begin your modules.

Reminder: It is required for staff to be able to kneel on the floor to actively demonstrate proper CPR techniques.

Registration opened today. Please register at MESD Health Ed Training
  • Thank you to those of you who started empathy interviews today!
