I hope Friday was beneficial for you and you had a good weekend. Fall weekends always seem so full! I was able to make it to Camp Westwind and boy that place didn't disappoint. It is definitely remote. The kids had to be "boated" in. Thank you to Ms.Lise, Ms. Steeves, Ms.Wickstrom and Ms.Cooper for attending with students. It is a lot to be away from your creature comforts for a week, but it is so important for our students to have this experience.
- MAP Data Reflections - If you haven't completed this, continue working on it.
The template can be found on shared drive -> PD ->Staff Meeting -> 10/10 MAP Data
As you work on it, if you need a thought partner, find a time to meet with Theresa here. We did ask these to be completed by last Friday so please bring attention to this.
- Intervention/Supports Feedback -
Please give feedback on students currently assigned to a support class or study skills class. As emailed last week, using teacher knowledge and MAP data we will be making some adjustments to these classes. Use comment columns to leave information about students. Use the "add to intervention" tab to list students you'd like to see added to interventions/support classes. Generally, we try to only have students in 1 of these classes. Also, we usually will not place a student into a Support class if they have a MAP percentile score of 40 or more (because there are so many students lower than that in need of these classes).
Late in the week, we will begin making decisions about these changes. This way our counselors can begin setting up schedule changes to all happen at the beginning of Quarter 2. Please bear in mind one of your PLC time slots this week should center this work.
- I would like to welcome Kenny Smith to the HP team. Kenny most recently taught in Walla Walla, Washington and just relocated to Portland with his family. Mr. Smith will be teaching Claire Flanagan's classes until her return. He will spend tomorrow (Monday) working with Theresa and Mike, catching up on all things HP. Welcome!
- We will also welcome our new .50 Learning Center teacher Samantha Whitelaw at some point this week. Samantha previously taught in Maryland and after a few years of additional schooling and time away from education is returning. Donna and her will be working on determining caseloads when she officially gets into the building.
- We will be utilizing the cafeteria for pictures on Tuesday. Students will get their pictures through their Science classes. We will send this schedule out to Science teachers directly.
- If you haven't heard We have narrowed it to Goats, Penguins, Panthers, Phoenix, Dragons (which is also Ockley Green's mascot as well). Spencer worked on the plan for voting to take place this week, but we haven't touched base on the final plans. More info out tomorrow.
- A reminder that goals were due on Friday. If you have not already submitted your goals please do so. You can email them to any administrator.
- A reminder that mandatory trainings need to be completed by October 31st. We will not meet on the 31st for staff meeting to provide you with additional time to complete this task.
