Morning Minute for October 4th

  • A reminder that we will begin tomorrow morning at 8:15 in the cafeteria. People are welcome to come empty handed, or with something to share. Plates, bowls, and utensils will be provided. Weird ask, but if you have a chair that would be great...we don't have any in the cafeteria and the tables won't be great for our activities. We can grab some from the library too! No need to bring a device.
  • We are getting closer but we are going to have kids who need to finish up testing do so tomorrow during 5th and 6th period. Students will report to 5th period and teachers should mark them present. They will then head to the cafeteria to test. In the event they run into 6th period, Naima will take care of the absence. Theresa will email 5th period teachers with a list of who to send.
  •  YEP (Youth Empowerment  Program, https://www.yeppnw.org/) Groups will start next week. Kim will be here to support, but will not be leading a group this year. Students participating in YEP groups will leave their 4th period Advisory (6th grade) or 5th period Advisory (7th/8th grade), go to the lunchroom and eat lunch and will then head to their group. Groups will run during lunches so students do not miss instructional time. Rhybon will meet with the male identifying groups on Wednesdays and Kim/Priscilla will meet with female identifying groups on Fridays. Those identifying as non binary will be able to chose which day they attend. Students will get a pass to leave class and get their lunch. They should be on time to class after their session ends. We will send out lists of students once they become available.

  • Schoolhouse Supplies secured sponsors, procured supplies and worked with over 200 volunteers to prepare supplies for your school. Now we need to plan for next year and would love to hear feedback from you and your staff.

Please take a moment to participate in a short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JTBCLPD

As an incentive, the school that has the most teachers and staff complete the survey by Wednesday October 11th will receive ten $5 Starbucks gift cards!

We would also greatly appreciate any student thank you messages and artwork. We share these with funders and they encourage future investment.

Here is a link to information about the Free Store for Teachers – an amazing resource! As you know, your schools are eligible to participate.
