Morning Minute for September 8th
- We sent out an invite to all staff for an optional Proactive Students of Concern Check In tomorrow morning. We will meet in the library. Thank you to Mike Benson for suggesting this. While this is not our formal kid chat it was felt that time was needed to begin discussion and proactive planning for several students. This is optional. If you have students who are on your radar or who you have already began to document, call home on, etc. this would be a good place to check in with support staff and others.
- Next Thursday, 9/14, teachers who are new-ish to teaching OR new to PPS are invited to meet with Theresa in room 130 at 8:20. This is an optional meeting that will focus on benefits (not insurance) and understanding leave related to PPS. If you'd like an invite email or text 503.407.7326.
- Student Password Changes
Students moving from grade 5 to grade 6 will be required to change their password. The passwords will need to be extended to the 16 character requirement which will now include one capital letter. Students in Grades 7 - 12 who have not changed their password since January 2020 will also be required to reset their password the first time they log in. Students will be required to change their password to the 16 character password when they first log in. We recommend they choose a sentence or a phase that they can remember.
Only classroom teachers are able to reset student passwords. Find the directions HERE! Please note that Brenda and Kenneth are not able to do this. If you need support with the above directions you can however reach out to them.
- I may be coming in tomorrow morning for a bit and then leaving to support my daughter in her wisdom tooth adventure. Our team is ready to serve tomorrow.
- Remember Friday we are wearing our staff shirts. Next week we will move it to Tuesday for our Open House.
- ILT met this morning and using the feedback we received and discussion we landed on doing our Back to School Night as an Open House format. Community Partners and others will have tables in the lobby and down the hallway with information for parents. We will run a facilities update and Title 1 presentation as well. Classroom teachers should plan on having their syllabus/letters available for parents. We will discuss more next Tuesday. If you have questions please send them to Spencer. Spencer sent out an email with more specifics earlier.
- Please remember that when students are arriving to first period we ask that classroom teachers change their them from absent to tardy if they arrive within the first ten minutes. We have a few kids who are arriving late on the bus and have been marked absent. They are being told to go directly to class and their absence hasn't been changed to tardy. One kid had both parents call frantic because they thought their child hadn't arrived at school. On that note we will be providing bus tardy slips for students. If they are arriving before the first ten minutes they will be taking the slip directly to class with them. Please do not mark them tardy.
