Morning Minute for September 6th
- Our lunch shifts were pretty successful today. We will continue to remind students of the expectations. As a reminder for 6th graders they should all come to the cafeteria at the end of their 4th period class. We will have two dismissal times for them to head to recess. Students may also choose to remain in the cafeteria the entire time. Please note all 6th graders need to go to the cafeteria first there is no coverage outside for the first portion of their recess/lunch. For 7th and 8th graders they can choose to go outside from the get go. If they choose this option they are choosing not to get lunch. We have a feeling they will eventually figure out they need to eat first and then head outside. We are offering two release periods from 7th and 8th grade lunch as well as the option to remain in the cafeteria the entire time. We will be working on hall coverage and bathroom checks. If we see too many students not in the cafeteria or at recess and wandering halls we may need to adjust this plan. Our hope is by working with those who are not following expectations we can move forward with this plan. Training is key here!
- The Student Support Team had some miscommunication around when we are to begin our tardy protocols. We are hoping to touch base tomorrow and get this officially going. This will be communicated out.
- If students show up to class after 9:20 without a tardy pass please send them to the office to get one.
- We had a few situations today where attendance calls went out and the parent called to let us know they should be at school. After doing some searching we found the student in class where they were either marked absent or were not in the correct class. Please be vigilant about taking attendance each period and making sure you have the correct students. If a student is not on your roster but is showing up for your class please call the appropriate counselor and/or send them to the office.
- Dancers may be using the two bathrooms on the "side halls" near the auditorium before 1st and 2nd period. They may be a bit tardy for dance class. We will be keeping an eye out for said students to ensure they are getting to class as quickly as possible. This is one situation where the 10/10 rule may not apply. Just an FYI.
- For planning purposes September 22nd, during 7th period, we will be having a 6th Grade Mixer. All 6th Graders, and those teaching only 6th graders at that time, will attend. WEB Leaders will also be attending this event.
- Advisory teachers please hold on to any forms turned in from first day packets until the 11th. We ask they are all turned in together in the envelope provided. It is difficult to keep track of all the forms and this helps ensure we don't misplace or misfile said forms. If you have questions on this please contact Naima in the office.
- Just for a point of clarification if staff need supplies we ask that they fill out an order form. Please note Naima will fill these as she can. The goal is for a 24 hour turn around. Shannon and Naima are public facing in the office and their first priority is to serve our parents and families who may be coming into the office. They will do their best to get to these as soon as possible, but need to ensure their regular duties such as attendance, payroll, phones, etc. are taken care of first. Thank you for your patience. Remember to anticipate needs ahead of time as much as possible.
- I sent out invites to the two options for staff PD next Tuesday the 12th. Option 1 is from 8:00-9:08 and option two is from 4:00-5:08. Regardless of your option please remember you are paid until 5:15 on Tuesdays. If you chose Option 1 this time would be flexed to 5:00. We are piloting this to see how it works. Our hope is this is responsive to staff needs.
- I also sent an invite out to our Open House next Tuesday the 12th. PAT members please note this is one of the two mandatory nights you are asked to attend for the year. PFSP members please reach out to me if you are planning on attending.
