Morning Minute for September 12th
- Tomorrow we will hold our first staff PD meeting with Option 1 (8:00-9:08) and Option 2 (4:00-5:08). We had an agenda ready to go, but have had to wait for some district wide information to flesh it out. In fact, we will be in a cohort meeting tomorrow morning that will go into some of what we are to cover for tomorrow afternoon (grrrrrr). We looked over info today and feel we can move forward with what we have. Please note tomorrow is largely district driven in that we have specific information to impart. A basic agenda will be:
Announcements
Advisory Partners & Shared Spaces
Open House Logistics
Evaluations
TAG
- A reminder to wear your Harrison Park t-shirts tomorrow
- Open House runs from 6:00-7:30. Classroom teachers be sure to have extra copies of syllabi, classroom letters, etc. on hand so that parents who did not receive this info from their kids can get it directly from you.
- Teachers if you are aware of students who were not here on the day we handed out t-shirts please send an email to Natalie and she will work on getting one to them. Additionally, if you didn't turn in your left over t-shirts please do so. We are trying to ensure we have enough for every new student gets one and we have some sizes that are very limited.
- Wednesday the 13th is the official ten day drop period for students who have not yet shown up. It is actually Tuesday the 12th for 6th graders. Please be sure you are marking kids absent daily. If even one person does not mark a kid absence, we can not drop them. We will be pulling lists and making final calls etc, but we are hoping to drop and have accurate numbers by Thursday the 14th.
- Colleagues - My apologies if this did not get comminuted clearly. Leah thought I sent out a notification and I thought she sent out a notification. Clearly we both did not clearly communicate, please accept my sincerest apologies for the confusion today during 4th or 5th period.
This week during 6th grade Advisory WEB Leaders are checking in with their 6th grade mentees. For advisory purposes this week, WEB Leaders will report to room 136 at 12:31, WEB Leaders then quickly push out to check in with their 6th grade mentees, then report back to their scheduled class no later than 12:51.
For 6th grade teachers, please extend some grace to our WEB Leaders as they learn this process. They should report to you, introduce themselves as a WEB Leader and that they would like to speak with one student from your advisory class. The check in conversation should last no longer than 5 minutes and take place in the hallway right outside your classroom. WEB Leaders should not be disruptive to your learning environment.
For 8th grade teachers of WEB Leaders. Please excuse WEB Leaders (listed below) from 12:31-12:51 for Tuesday (9/12/23) through Friday (9/15/23).
Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding as we work through the clunky beginnings of our WEB program. Leah here and I will add that our hope is these students are missing the advisory section of classes only. This is certainly for the great good.
- Clarification on tardies. Please note that teachers should be making any changes in tardies/absences within the first ten minutes of class. After the first ten minutes, Naima, or someone in the office, will make the change if a student shows up late for school etc. This stands for every period of the day. To be clear if a student comes back with a pink tardy slip the teacher is still responsible for changing the student from absent to tardy (if applicable). This aligns with the ten ten rule purposely.
