Summer Forecast #3

Alright we have to face it, the countdown is on. When I was teaching this is when I began to actually address my summer to do list.  On that note, not a lot has changed! I hope you are beating the heat and staying cool. I was able to get a little swimming in on Sunday, but have been too busy since then. I am still working on forcing my dog baby to relax on a floatie...it isn't going too well.

A handful of staff have already returned to work and are literally sweating away. The building is HOT and we are doing our best to accomplish all the things that need to be taken care of to welcome you and our scholars. I know we will be cutting it close, but we will make it.

Homework

We have plans for your homework and really appreciate those of you who have turned it in already. I will be honest our turn in rate is pretty low. Please get us your song of the summer ASAP. We would like to use these for the 22nd. Photos can be turned in next week, but are needed by the 25th. If you have an actual photo please bring it next week.

Staffing Update

We will be submitting a recommendation on our .50 Learning Center teacher by Thursday. Our Reading Intervention teacher just accepted another district position and we will begin interviewing for this ASAP. We are in much better shape then we were last year at this time! I also want to welcome our School Support Instructor, Zach Vestal.

Spaces/Rooms

I will be sending out final shifts by end of day Thursday. Things have been shifting and a lot of my focus has been on making last minute shifts due to the construction. We will go over this in more detail when we are all together, but for now I will address everyone impacted by shifts individually. I know some people really want to get into the building. If you fall into this category please reach out me and I will tell you if this is a possibility. There are some rooms that are accessible and "ready", but some are still highly impacted by construction.

SCHEDULE

Below is an outline of our schedule for 8/22-8/28. Please bear in mind the PAT contract stipulates 1.5 workdays for it's members prior to the start of the school year. We are able to meet this and in the hope is to provide you with additional time on the 24th and the 25th.

Tuesday the 22nd- Additional paid workday for Harrison Park staff and community partners from 8-4 @ Edgefield. Focus on building school culture, team building and touching on school improvement plan/data. Breakfast and coffee will be served. Ample time for lunch on your own.

Thursday the 24th- Professional Development day @ Harrison Park. Staff who did not attend Summer Institute may have to attend PD elsewhere. Some other district trainings will take place on this day. Our goal is to allow staff as much time to work in their spaces or personal planning as possible. Please note we will have some students/parents in the building to tour the facility, meet teachers, etc. (per their IEPS or 504s). We will do our very best to send out notifications if you will be impacted.
