Good evening. I apologize for getting this out later than normal, but have spent most of the day getting to our final destination for the conference Coach Carpenter and I are attending. We rolled into the hotel around 5:15 and dinner and the training begins at 6:00...I am late already.

This is the official week to honor our teachers. In my opinion we should highlight and honor your work more than once a year! We hope you enjoyed breakfast on Friday. We have two specific events this week and will be celebrating you all month!

I know you are in good hands with Tara and Emily. I will be back later Wednesday evening and in the building by 9:15 Thursday.

  • Claire Flanagan, Heather Cooper and Elin Wickstrom are out this week at Outdoor School. I am VERY jealous they get to spend he week on the beach! Paraeducator, Mikailia will also be attending to support a student. If she supports students, you serve please be take note. We will not have additional coverage for her.
  • On that note, we do have a fairly large number of 6th graders who are opting out of Outdoor School. We will have two substitutes in the building to cover classes/students. If you are interested in having a 6th grade helper let Emily know.
  • Dan Carpenter and I will be attending a conference/training in San Diego starting today. We return late Wednesday evening and will be back in the building Thursday. I will be checking email and texts. Tara and Emily will be here. Dan does have sub coverage. At first, I thought it would be exciting to go to San Diego for some sun, but we are legit in training from 6:00-10:00 on Sunday, 8:00 to 8:00 on Monday and Tuesday and 8:00-3:00 on Wednesday...no time for fun.
  • End of the year calendering is happening. If your grade level, teams, etc. are making plans for the end of the school year please communicate with me and Shannon so we can get them on the calendar and avoid collisions of facilities, events, etc. This would include things like: Kindergarten "graduation", 5th grade promotion, field trips, class picnics, awards/celebration ceremonies, etc.
Here are some key dates:

Check Out for Library Ends- 19th
Library Books Due- May 26th
Reading Groups End- June 2nd
Staff Celebration/Last Staff Meeting- June 6th
ESL Ends- June 8th
Field Day- June 10th
Monday the 12th- Last Day of Specials (this ensures PAT members get the correct amount of planning for the week)
K-5 Bon Voyage Dance/Celebration- June 2nd @ 5:00 & Madagascar
Promotion- June 13th @ 6:00
End of Year Staff Party- June 14th @ 4:00 Place TBD

  • Thank you to JoAnna, June and Natalia for stepping in and covering for Ms.Fitz on Friday. I know this is less than ideal, but with so many people out without coverage it was necessary. We appreciate you!
