Nightly News for May 23rd

• Emily will be out all day tomorrow. Ruth and I will be at a meeting until about 11:40 and Tara and Ana will be out at the same meeting in the afternoon. 

• I am making daily updates to the key date calendar below. Speaking of which we have added two performances for students to see Madagascar on June 2nd. 5th-8th Grade will attend 10:30-11:40 (no Flex that day) and K-4 will attend at 1:30. The performance should wrap up around 2:45.

  I am working on some things regarding office spaces and will need to get a few things finalized. The bottom line is there is not enough office space so we are going to have to be creative. Also it is likely that some staff members will have to continue sharing space or will need to share office space at Clark. I have not assigned teachers to classrooms -only grade levels.  When I have further updates I will share them with you.

• Elementary classroom teachers, would you like to be paid to give feedback on your experience using new mental health lessons during Fall of the 23/24 school year? 

We are thrilled to announce that for the 23/24 SY, the Health and Adapted/PE team will have a new Mental Health curriculum for Kindergarten through 4th grades! ALL teachers will have access to these beautiful, cohesive, vertically aligned Mental Health lessons created especially for our PPS Students and based on teacher feedback.

• Jessica Foreman found the flamingo today. Here was the clue: Many of you may have created a festive way to count down the days to the end of the year. That being said, the wildlife in the building are simply hanging out. Location: on the windowsill under the paper chains across from the wildlife mural outside of Elin Wickstrom's room. 

• Theresa sent this out earlier, but it worth repeating: It's already that time of year! Because of the extra stress of transitioning/packing to the usual end-of-year stress it's very important that translated comments are done on time. 

In school we will have translation for Somali, Russian/Ukrainian, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese. We can also send out translations in other languages. Naima is the point person for these. 

To have comments translated (pics attached):

1. Open the Quarter 4 folder in the HP shared folder.

2. Open the Language folder you need.

3. Click "New" and "Google Doc"

4. Name your document with your last name and student name or initials

This creates a doc that already has permissions set for editing. 

As our team translates your comments they will add "DONE" to the front of the title. 

Here are the dates to know:

5/30-6/1 - PLC set aside for comments requiring translation

6/2 - Folder for comments needing to be sent out will be CLOSED

6/9 - All Translation folders will be CLOSED

6/14 - All comments/inserts from ESL/Sped/Reading/etc need to be given to classroom teachers

6/16 - Report cards (stuffed in labeled envelopes with flaps down but, not glued) turned into office by 4:00. 

Office will give each classroom teacher a set of labels and envelopes.
