Nightly News for February 1st
- THANK YOU to all of you who stepped up this morning to help with our secure the perimeter situation today. I appreciate everyone remaining calm and focused for our student's arrival. Unfortunately, this type of situation seems to be on the increase in our community. I am saddened by the impact on our students and families on a regular basis. It is a good reminder that we should always remain vigilant and aware of our surroundings. Please be sure to report anything unusual to admin, the office or Herk.
- We are seeing a lot more "collisions" on the playground for grade level recesses. By this I mean classes are not going at their assigned times and we have a pile up of grades etc. Please be sure to revisit when your grade level's time is. If you arrive late we ask that you wrap up recess at the normal end time. Classes should only be out during their assigned time. If you are going out for any other earned recesses, etc. you should let admin and the office know and should check the schedule to ensure this not impeding on another classes time. Here is a link to the schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IIotEoHuf9SB9F3aoi7mLogHgOrn0eNcfbW2xJOXPtQ/edit#gid=1155561355
- K-5 On that note, we also need to ensure we are following our building wide schedule. If you have a need to adjust times to your daily grade level schedule, please talk to Jill, or Leah. Shifts in the schedule can often impact others (reading, ESL, SPED) and for that reason we want to ensure we are aligned. The caveat would be taking proactive time, when needed, to address an issue that may arise and leaning on opportunities to revisit classroom climate, expectations and SE learning. Time spent here will often allow for more focused teaching in the future.
- Middle School- We are closer to balancing classes. Please know I am aware of the 7th grade numbers. Unfortunately, we were only slated for two sections at 7th grade this year (and 6th to be honest, but I pushed there) and we are feeling those ramifications now as we continue to have move ins at this grade level. We will continue to plug away at this.
