I am off my regular Sunday schedule which involves coffee, a bit of reading and then laying out the work for the week. I was able to watch my niece play volleyball this morning and am just now getting home to start my Sunday work. I hope you had a productive Friday and are ready to launch into a new term and month. We are officially half way there! I am fairly certain I am forgetting a few things in this week's Forecast...I know the second I sent it I will remember.

  • Please be aware our Middle School students will be in a state of flux for the next two days. We are working on schedule changes (these can not be done until grades are posted) tomorrow and Tuesday.  Many students will have some shifts beginning Wednesday. With that being said, we are using this time to do some group activities, visioning, high school prep etc.  Leah will be in classes most of the day Monday to present to classes. ALL middle school students need to continue to follow their 2nd term schedules and attendance should be taken on paper. We will have printed copies of attendance sheets delivered to applicable teachers and turned into the office each period. Kelly will  need to make adjustments, corrections etc. as the computer system will be off. We anticipate this will be highly confusing, but  unfortunately there is not a way around it at this time. Here is a copy of schedule information. Please note this may shift.

  • Tomorrow's staff meeting will be focused on staffing updates. We will begin at 3:30.
  • As previously mentioned we are officially half way through the year. We spent some time on Friday looking at systems and places we need some tune ups and shifts.  As you know during the course of the day it is difficult to connect and have conversations. With Jill joining our team (WAHOO) we will be making some adjustments etc. We met for a bit on Friday to look at systems and begin shoring things up around Tier 1 Interventions, breaks, passes etc. Jill will be checking in with K-5 teachers about calming corners/spaces, refreshing supplies of fidgets, etc. Kara and Dan were working on coordinating break schedules, and firming things up there.
  • Last week there were a lot of students in the hall without passes. As I mentioned at our staff meeting we as adults will need to be on the same page and hold students accountable here. Please do not allow students out of class without a pass. Middle school teachers we want to adhere to the 10/10 rule (no one out of class the first ten minutes and last ten minutes of the period). If students are asking to see Chukwu, Audra, the counselors, Danelle, Natalie, Kara, Dan etc. a call needs to be made to them directly to see if they are available. If there is not answer students should not be sent. The exception would be if they have a regularly scheduled break. I will be making an announcement around this tomorrow.
