Nightly News for January 18th
- I am out of the building tomorrow for Leadership. Jill will be here. Shannon will also be out until approximately 9:30. Naima will be working to ensure subs are set.
- Just a reminder that we need to be mindful of allowing people into the building after school. The office closes at 4:00. People coming into the building should be signing in until the office is closed. We often have parents come to pick up kids from basketball practice, and now SUN, using various entries. SUN and Champions parents/guardians should not be allowed through the front doors for pickup. Please send them to the cafeteria doors via outside. Basketball parents should be directed to the gym doors. We have several after school activities taking place and want to ensure safety for all.
- We are making serious efforts to wrap up MAP testing. Please be sure to send students to the appropriate session to finish up. Next week is the last week of the term and we definitely don't want to be pulling kids out then. Any questions should be directed to Theresa.
- I have been reviewing some information about moves for next year and wanted to share they are strongly encouraging everyone you to begin planning ahead for this. Now is a good time to begin purging old materials and taking any personal items you know you will not be using for the remainder of he year. Preparation and planning now will pay off in June!
- Some of you will be receiving ESL monitoring forms in your mailboxes tomorrow or Friday. Please be sure to fill these out ASAP and return them to the box (that will be on the counter) in the office. If you have questions in regards to how to fill out the form please ask the ESL teacher you generally work with.
- Kenneth- Hey Everyone! Im very sorry for the lateness on this. As many of you saw, we started making announcement videos for HP and asked any students that wanna join the team to reach out to their teachers. Here is the link to the form for that. Let me say it's a very quick form that asks 2 questions, SID and YOUR thoughts on the student wanting to join our team. Please reach out to me if you have any concerns or questions. We plan to start interviewing kids next week and have a team of kiddos that would be making weekly announcement videos. Always, thank you for being AWESOME!
- This was in Admin Connect today, and I thought it was worth a share. We serve approximately 43% ESL students so this is would be a great opportunity.

As a PPS teacher, we know you have a passion to improve outcomes and opportunities for English learners (ELs) – and we want to help you achieve your goals. We’re partnering with Oregon State University to offer you the opportunity to take graduate-level online courses required to earn your ESOL Endorsement or DL Specialization
Tuition costs are covered through a federally funded grant, called TEAMS (Teachers Educating All Multilingual Students). The program runs from June 2023 to Dec. 2024. You will take one online course per academic term. Exceptions might apply. Visit the OSU website to learn more.
