Five more sleeps and then you will all be on a well deserved vacation. Keep to your routines this week. Monday through Thursday should be "normal". Friday, is a day to celebrate with your students if you so choose. My one caveat there is the middle school team may want to collaborate as "Friday Fun" in every class may lead to "Friday Freakouts". An hour of a fun activity in a K-5 class is absolutely appropriate, but six hours of fun in middle school leads to...I don't want to know.
I did this last year, but will remind you that in my mind Winter Break is just that. You should not be taking a ton of work home. Please use your time this week to wrap up things and get as much as you can accomplished so you can leave on Friday with a sense of absolute freedom. I know most of you will need some time on Monday the 2nd to review and plan a bit, but leave it until then (this is a FANTASTIC bonus day in my mind). Make a list this week and chip away at it.
- The Winter Carnival schedule will be out tomorrow. We have a draft and just need to double check it tomorrow. Please be aware we will be canceling Specials and Reading (Cheryl/Michelle's students) on this day. For those of you who normally have Specials on Fridays you will not have planning time. In the event someone does not have their 320 minutes of planning this next week please let me know directly. We will be in a holding pattern around ESL until a final decision is made tomorrow. Classroom teachers should attend the Carnival with their students. We will work on a break coverage schedule so all K-5 teachers get a bathroom break during the day.
- Please be sure to fill out your survey for next year's staffing. This was an email sent to you by HR directly.
- Please be sure to turn in any extended hours to Shannon as quickly as possible. ALL hours have to be turned in by the 15th by noon. Please note Shannon has several deadlines over the next few days and the earlier they can be in the better.
- I received an email yesterday letting me know that all new TSI/CSI adminsitrators will be given information shortly. It also noted that the February date, I believe it is Friday the 17th, will not be mandatory for new TSI schools, such as Harrison Park, because this needs to be put out in advance per the contract. If you choose to work that day you will be paid, but it is not mandatory until next year that you attend these days.
- The Leadership class has candied over 1800 Candy Cane Grams over the last few days. They will be delivered to your classrooms on Monday or Tuesday. Please know even if your class did not participate, your class will still receive an envelope with grams from the PTA, one for each student (let me know if for some reason there were not enough in your envelope, they are not named just generic).
