I want to give a huge bow of gratitude to Ron and Valerie for spearheading Apple Harvest. I am so thankful for all of our staff members that showed up on Thursday evening to make this event happen for students and families. There was a large turn out and the night went smoothly. Kids and families were happy and it was a big reminder of the diversity and vibrancy of this amazing community. Director Julia Brim-Edwards stopped by and I absolutely shared this was all my staff. Thank you everyone!
- We will meet briefly on Tuesday to go over some items/pointers around conferences. PLCs this week will be time for you to prepare for conferences as well.
- K-5 report cards should have gone home on Thursday. At this point all families should have a scheduled conference on the spreadsheet. K-5 teachers please be sure this is up to date and you are making any changes/additions/etc. as they come up. The spreadsheet will be used by the office to assist parents during conferences. Additionally, they receive calls to make changes, etc. during the school day. When it is not updated it can create issues. There was a request to assign times if you had not been able to confirm a time. Please note on the spreadsheet if a conference has not been confirmed. Example: Ricky Bobby @ 3:30 (Tentative). Our ESL, Specials and Reading teachers will use this spreadsheet to stop into conferences of parents/families they would like to touch base with. Again, we will go over things in more detail on Tuesday.
- Middle School teachers I spoke with Georgie, Elin and Matthew on Thursday. I will be sending a separate email to you.
- Tuesday night we will hold a DLI Parent Night/Meeting. The goal of this function is to update families on our current DLI programming, go over conferences and discuss next year. All are welcome. It begins at 6:00.
- Another thank you to those who have stepped up to support our HP basketball teams. We have 44 players in grades 3-5. Kara, Danelle, Herk and Jessica are definitely in for some fun. Practices will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays after school. We will work on getting an official list out of players. We are still looking for coaches so if anyone wants to volunteer let Danelle know!
- I interviewed SUN Coordinators with IRCO this week. Fingers crossed we have someone in place soon. I know this has been a hole for our community.
- I will be leaving around 12:30 tomorrow for an appointment. Dan Carpenter will be out.
- I would like to share that Rachel Roberts will be leaving the Harrison Park team. Her official last day is this Friday, however she will most likely not be in this week. Rachel has been a big support to our students over the years. She will be missed. She asked me to share her departure with everyone and did not want to draw attention to it.
- On that note, I am now looking for two para educators. If you know anyone who is interested in working with our team please reach out to me. There is a bonus for people who are hired prior to December 15th.
- PFSP staff there was some clarification sent out on conference week. I will reach out to you directly as it changes messaging, from me, about a month ago. I know it is rare I do things WAY in advance!
- Veteran's Day was spent with my dad who served in two wars for our country. I am humbled by those who have made this sacrifice. I want to thank Dan Carpenter for his service as well .
I hope you all had a great weekend. One more week, conferences and then there is more time on the horizon to be spent with those we hold closest. I spent the weekend trying to rest my knee. I did sneak in time by the burn pile. Burn and Brew day is one of my all time favorites. I am thankful for my son who did all the hard work! I simply sat and enjoyed the fire with a drink and my goats. On another note, my kid turns 21 this week. SOOOOOO CRAZY.
