Nightly News for September 28th
- Superintendent Guerrero was here for an hour this morning. We were able to get into several classrooms and tour the building. He chuckled at our nine middle school boys leaving the bathroom during passing time (whew) and was happy to interact with several students.
- Dr.Franco sent out an email letting us know there were several issues around technology yesterday and many people were not able to get into the session. Please let me know if this was the case. Here are the materials from the K-5 meetings (where the majority of the issues occurred).

- We will be holding our Lockdown Drill on Friday at 9:20. This drill should last about 20 minutes total. The end of the month got away from us and I realized yesterday this was one we need to get in before the end of the month. We will be sending out notification to families tomorrow night. We are working on a video that I would like you to share with your classes on Friday morning to stress the importance of taking this drill seriously and to provide some instructions. This was suggested in today's Safety Team meeting and we are going to make it happen.
- In the same vein you may want to make a note in regards to your shades/window coverings. Please check to be sure if they are functioning or not. Shades that don't work or can't be pulled down need to be reported and we will work on fixes. For Friday's drill please be sure to find a piece of paper or something to cover the window in your classroom door. This should be something that can be put up quickly in the event of an emergency.
- From Naima: We just had students deliver the covid bins to the homeroom classes K-8. The spit test is due on Thursdays at 10 am, if teachers can send a student to bring it to the lobby, I will be there to collect it. Teachers can keep the bins. I will send a reminder for all call on Thursday mornings around 9:50 am.
- This went out earlier today. We will be fine tuning it but it is a solid draft to work from in the event of rainy weather. Please note we do not have any gyms available during classroom 15 minute structured recess times. Students in Kinder, 1st, and 4th grade will not be able to access the gyms in the event we have an indoor recess at lunch. We have assigned specific staff to these classrooms and hope they will remain consistent throughout the year. While the goal is to have a certified staff member in each space, there may be some situations where we are short handed, especially in the event we have other staff out without coverage. Kinder, 1st and 4th grade teachers I will send you an email/google link to ask for information on indoor recess in your rooms. Please fill it out as soon as you can get to it. Also, we have a three minute delay for 5th grade to get into the gym while our last specials group is finishing up. We will keep a close eye on this and make adjustments as needed.
