Nightly News for Sept 29, 2022

  •  If you need supplies from Textbooks please email Theresa before you order. We have doubles of materials showing up.
  • The office had several situations today where they needed to locate students for pickup or various reasons and no one was in the classroom. If you are out of your classroom, other than your structured recess time, please make sure you let the office know of your location. We ask you to follow your recess time slot we have had some collisions of "appointments" of fifteen minutes.
  • Tomorrow's Lockdown drill will be taking place at approximately 9:25. I had every intention of creating a video today to go over expectations, but it was a busy day and I chose to support classrooms instead. I MAY get to it this evening and will share a link out separately if this happens. In the event it does not I will make an announcement at 9:15 to remind students of expectations, etc.  The Safety Team had a great idea of creating some Harrison Park specific videos to use for drills and emergency situations....definitely a goal for the future. Here is what you should review with your class, if you have not already.
Teacher
Bring any students in from hallway (regardless of if they are yours or not)
Lock doors
Shut/cover windows (including  window in door)
Turn off lights
Create a barrier
Take attendance and account for students
Do not open door for any reason

In the case of a drill administration/support staff will open the door and clear your room when the drill is over and let you know. In an actual event this may be law enforcement etc.

Students
Remain quiet
Get to a safe area and stay out of sight
In some cases leaving the building would be the best (for our drill please do not leave the building)
Remain in place and be as quiet as possible do not open door for ANY reason

  • A few of you responded that you needed repairs to window coverings etc. if you have blinds/window coverings etc. that need attention (or are missing) please fill out this document.
