The end is in sight! May you all hold up this week and take in the last few moments with your students. I know this has been an extremely difficult year and we have so many reasons to celebrate our resiliency. This week will feel frantic and chaotic. Take a deep breath and try to enjoy.
- I had a facility meeting on Friday and almost did an all school announcement. I am surprised no one heard me SCREAMING with joy. Harrison Park will be getting a NEW HVAC SYSTEM WITH AIR CONDITIONING!!!!! In every meeting I am in I continue to push for this. Our parents have voiced this, you have voiced this and we were heard. We are the last school to slide in under the bond slated for this. I am sooooo happy this is happening. Unfortunately, this won't happen with the work slated for this summer, but it is going to happen.
- There will no snacks from the Nutrition Services this week.
- I sent this out on Friday, but it certainly bears repeating. Several area schools have had a woman enter them and take wallets, etc. from school staff. This is difficult to believe with our current times, but it is reality. Herk is on alert and our office has been vigilant, but we know we will have many visitors, deliveries, etc. in the coming days. This next week will have all of us running to our cars to grab extra stuff or to put things back in. It also is a time when we may find it easy to hand our keys off to students when we need something, etc. Please be very aware these little shifts make it easier for thefts to occur and things to disappear. Please be sure to lock your spaces whenever you are leave. Do not give keys to students. Do not prop doors to the outside open. A few seconds is all it takes.
- Tomorrow we are expecting a large dumpster being dropped off for end of the year purging. Please make use of this in the coming week.
- On that note, if you have furniture that is broken please put a note on it and identify it for the dumpster. DO NOT put it out in the hall right now. We will put out an announcement for when this step should occur. Along the same lines, if there is furniture in your room you do not want for next year please make a note of that as well. Again, we will put out information on this next week.
- As you can see in our calendar above there are many activities taking place this week. I asked for staff to schedule specific locations with Shannon. I appreciate those of you who did that. If your class is having an event I encourage you to let Shannon know so it can be shared with admin and the office staff. We will get many calls asking for information about these types of things and if we don't know it takes extra time to try to track down information. Communicating these events is very helpful.
- Along those lines I know at this time of year some classes are having parties, celebrations, etc. and pizzas and other deliveries will begin to roll in. If you are expecting a delivery please give the office a heads up so they know where things may be going.
- The Reading team will wrap up services on Tuesday and begin working on paperwork and building support. The ESL team will end their lessons on Wednesday. They may have made some arrangements with individual teachers and will communicate that out directly. The last day of Specials for K-5 is Wednesday. Classroom teachers should have at least 320 minutes of planning with these cancellations. If this is not the case please communicate directly to me.
- End of year checkouts were shared out last week. I believe a copy was also placed in mailboxes. Here it is again in case you missed it. https://docs.google.com/
