Weekly Forecast for June 13th-14th

Monday the 13th
Workday 7:45-3:30
Tuesday the 14th
Workday 7:45-3:30
ILCT Meeting 9:00-12:00
Staff Bon Voyage/Retirement Celebration 3:45-6:00

Thank you to EVERYONE who made yesterday safe and memorable for our students. The middle school team went all out to help send off students on a positive note. I saw so many smiles and happy kids. We also saw tears and anxious behaviors. Our kids are going to miss you!
  • The building is open for the remainder of this week. Please note all employees should be out by 6:00 as the custodial hours shift for summer hours.
  • Access to the building is closed this Friday. Technically, access is supposed to end Wednesday, but I think that is a bit unreasonable. It is my understanding badges will be turned off and anyone working summer programming will need to put in a ticket with IT to have their badge turned on. This does not apply to HP since we do not have any summer programming this year. If for any reason you need access to your space during the summer you will need to contact Emily or me for access.
  • Naima and Shannon came in today (Saturday) to begin the process of packing up the office. The entire office has to be packed by 4:00 on Friday as movers will be here on Friday evening, or next Saturday, to move everything out. Construction begins next Monday. The office will have limited supplies this week. Please be mindful of this added stress on our FANTASTIC office staff.
  • Emily and I have blocked out from 12:15-3:30 on Tuesday to do checkouts. If you are unable to complete your list by 3:30 on Tuesday, please let us know when you plan to check out. All checkouts must be complete by Friday. We will be in meetings/interviews for much of the day Wednesday, I will be at a training Thursday (Emily will be in the building) and Emily is out on Friday. I will be available that day.
  • We have provided boxes for those people who are being asked to move spaces. There are some boxes in the lobby for Lucy Caulkin's materials ONLY. Do not take these for any other purposes.
  • On the Lucy Caulkin's note please pack these up ASAP. I will talk with Tino on Monday for next steps. They should be packed in the provided boxes.
  • K-5 teachers please make sure you do not seal your report cards. We will be taking them to the mail room at the district office on Wednesday and they ask they come to them unsealed. You do not have to make copies of this round of report cards.
  • We know that many kids say "I am moving this summer." If you have talked with parents or feel fairly certain this is the case can you take a moment and let me know? I just want to keep as close an eye on our numbers over the summer as possible. Email would be best.
  •  I will be publishing the Summer Forecast approximately every three weeks this summer. Please note you are under no obligation to check your email during the summer.
  • Emily and I will be working throughout the summer offsite. On days I work I will be turning my school cell phone on. I will check it periodically when I am off, but am going to make an effort to largely disconnect just as you should! If you need anything feel free to email, text or call, but know it may not be an immediate response. Both of us will update our calendars with work days and vacation days. We return to work "for real" on August 8th and will be finished with any vacation days etc. by then.
  • We had planned to honor our departing staff members on Tuesday, but as you know were not mistaken about it being a staff meeting day. We hope you join us at Pips & Bounce on Tuesday to celebrate. We have some gifts we would like to give and a short presentation. This will take place at 4:30. Appetizers will be served and a no host bar is available. Bring your ping pong skills! Pips and Bounce is located at 833 SE Belmont St, Portland, OR 97214.
  • We have been trying to squeeze in interviews and hiring the past few weeks. I am not going to put out a full assignment list for next year because things seem to shift. We have hired for our .5 art position and both our 3rd grade positions. We are still in the process of hiring a 1.0 SS/LA teacher, 1st grade teacher, .5 math teacher and 2 para educators for our SE classroom. We also have to finish making a decision for our .5 Mandarin Kinder teacher. We have received on EA placement and another placement, Kara Campbell. Kara was slated for our 1st grade position, but will be working with our 2nd grade team. She is excited to join our team. We have had a ROBUST applicant pool for most of our positions...math being the exception.
  • THANK YOU to Kevin Carter and Lara Fitzgerald for their commitment to Harrison Park this Spring. Kevin stepped into a difficult position and saw through the remainder of the year. Lara stepped into Katie's class a week earlier than expected and things went seamlessly.
  • We would like to officially welcome Taylor Brey to Harrison Park next year. Taylor will join our third grade team.
