- We have made a decision to go to Thatchers for appetizers on Friday. Thank you Kim Jarvis for the suggestions. It is fairly large and has some space. We will have appetizers rolling out at 3:50....(Thatcher's - 7906 SE Stark Street Portland, OR 97215 -- 503-254-2918)
- We hope you enjoyed the potatoes today. As I told Mr.Swan I wish we had a side of steak for you! Special thanks to our ladies in Nutrition who baked the potatoes.
- I do not recall going over this at the beginning of the year and as the year winds down it is something I am sure will come up. There is district policy (administrative directive) around the use of movies in classrooms and we do need to abide by it. I also realize we have made some mistakes (Hamilton...yikes) in this area. If you plan on showing a movie in class please let Emily or I know and include the appropriate notification to families (please CC Admin on this). I realized this is one of those things that COVID erased from our minds. Here is some general information. Process for use in class Prior to showing a feature film/video for educational purposes in a school, the instructor must seek the approval of the building principal. At least five days prior to the showing, the instructor shall submit to the principal the following information on the particular film: a. Title and brief description; b. Purpose for the showing; c. Description of how it aligns with course objectives; d. Proposed date of showing; e. Audience rating (G, PG, PG-13, R). Instructors are required to preview all media before showing to students. Commercial films/videos may not be used in class for purely entertainment purposes without first obtaining a viewing license. The full attachment is in the original email. Showing a short video or specific clips (as long as they are not graphic etc. in nature) would not require this.
- Because of continuous issues at 4th grade lunch recess students are no longer allowed to play basketball. Coach Schoene will be running a basketball activity. Kids will be lining up and he will give them instructions and supervise. Thank you for taking this on Coach!
- 5th grade students are no longer allowed to carry backpacks around the building. I went into 5th grade classes this morning and let them know of this change. They will be asked to leave them in their classrooms during the day. The exception would be DLI students taking them from Ms.Liu's class to Mr.Schulze or Ms.Jarvis in the afternoon. Please let me know if you have questions.
- Please be sure to take down testing signs when you are no longer in session.
- We have had several situations in the past few days where items have disappeared. A substitute's phone (found in a hidey hole) Darrel's laptop, and a staff members AirPods in the last two days. PLEASE be sure you are locking your doors when you leave a space. Even if it is to walk across the hall for a second. Do not leave any items of value out. Unfortunately, when things are taken it is almost always a situation where the opportunity presented itself.
- Related to the topic above, we HAVE to make sure students are where they are supposed to be and supervised at all times. If they leave the room they have a pass. They are in the class/space they are assigned to. This avoids the "I thought they were with..." which then leads to incidents occurring.
