The weather is beautiful today, but it is looking like it will be getting nasty once tomorrow. Too many indoor days! I am attempting to send this out before I leave Pendleton and head back home. We were able to watch my son pitch two innings yesterday. I am taking in every game I can as this ride is almost over. I am sure on the drive home more will come to mind, but I am thinking it can wait until tomorrow's Nightly News.

  • There were some last minute shifts in job a likes and we are rearranging plans for Tuesday's staff meeting. Details out tomorrow.
  • This was sent out to all staff, but I would like to highlight it: The All-Star Awards Ceremony is Portland Public Schools’ premier recognition event for students and communities to relish in a night full of culture, community, and celebration. The event will feature five distinct student groups, including API Voices for Asian and Pacific Islander student honorees, New Portlanders for students honorees who’ve recently made Portland home, Sí Se Puede for Latinx student honorees, Take Flight Native Pride for American Indian and Alaska Native student honorees, and Young, Gifted, and Black for African, Black, and African American student honorees.

We recognize that diversity and nuance exists in and among cultural groups. Our goal is to create a platform to admire and celebrate the breadth of identities our students carry with them daily.

Nominations will be open Tuesday, April 12, 2022 and close on Friday, April 29th, 2022. To nominate a student, please use this form. Students will be honored on Friday, June 3rd, 2022. We are looking to you for nominations and those nominations can be made by teachers, staff, parents, and community members. If you are interested in serving on any of the subcommittees to select honorees, contact Yian Saechao in the Community Engagement Department at yisaechao@pps.net.

  • We are hoping to have K-5 assemblies next week. If you have any ideas of content, competition, etc. please reach out to me.
  • A reminder that if you have any open GoogleMeets you go in and end the meeting for all. We have had students hanging out in old meets and are working to make sure they are shut down as much as possible.
  • We are holding a middle school activity day on Thursday after school 3:30-4:30. This will take place in the gym area. Any staff wishing to help out are welcome. Extended pay is available for those staying the full hour.
