It feels like this week will be a busy one. It is crazy to think we are almost halfway through April! If you happen to see any of our PTA parents please be sure to thank them for their work on the Kindergarten Courtyard. They came in on Friday and did a good job clearing things out. I know the leaves were knee deep (okay on me...). I also want to recognize our Chess Team. Brian Swan took a group to the state tournament on Friday and Saturday. Our students finished in "the middle of the pack" and almost had a podium spot. Brian reports we were the only 100% BIPOC team in the tournament. If you have students who are on the team please recognize them!
- Shannon will be out tomorrow and Tuesday. Just an FYI.
- Emily and I have Leadership on Thursday and will be out of the building. If things get hectic, Emily will return to the building.
- We will be conducting middle school tardy sweeps this week. Support staff will be in the halls during specific times to take note of tardies. We want to make sure we continue to keep the halls clear as must as possible. Students need to remain in classes the first ten and last ten minutes of the period and MUST have a hall pass to leave the room. As the year winds down, holding students accountable to protocols will keep behaviors in check.
- Tuesday our K-5 teachers will have to for MTSS work. Please be sure you have updated your students in this document prior to meeting https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RfNX0vPE762W0kHe0L6IIjy6NZSXqSyWIxj5suYe3iw/edit#gid=2104659294.
- We have submitted names of students for the Summer Acceleration Academy. District office folks will be reaching out to families and handling communication for right now. If you have parents ask about summer programming or summer school you can send them to Emily, Theresa or me. It is my understanding a catalog will be put out by the district shortly of other summer opportunities for students.
- Friday, Emily and I went to the BESC to work on scheduling for next year. We will be reaching out to people in the next week or two to discuss scheduling. We will also hold some input sessions for those interested. Our K-5 schedule needs to be submitted by the end of the month.
- The first day of quarter four is tomorrow. There were very few schedule changes for our middle school students. If a student has a hole in their schedule please send them to the office. If a student shows up to your class and is not on your list please make sure they go to the class they have listed on their schedule. As a reminder students must be in the class they are registered for.
- We are not providing masks for students, with the exception of the health room. We have some, but would like to keep these for specific situations. Students who prefer to wear masks will need to provide their own. I will share this out with families this week.
- I will probably repeat this weekly, but want to make sure everyone is aware. The building will be closed this summer and we will not have access to offices, classrooms etc. We have to be out of the building by Friday June 17th and will not be able to get back in until the week teachers are to report. The district calendar is not being voted on by the board until April 19th. I know some of you leave on the last workday and don't return until the first day back, while others like to come in periodically throughout the summer. For those of you who fall into the later, please begin to plan accordingly. In this vein please be aware that deadlines for grades and other end of year tasks will need to be adhered to.
