- We have had a positive case of COVID at Harrison Park. I will be sending out notification to our communities later this evening. This person was in the building and potentially contagious on Wednesday and Thursday.
- As a reminder OSAS testing is taking place. This may impact support schedules, etc. We have asked those who will have schedule adjustments let you know directly to help avoid confusion. We appreciate everyone's support with this.
- The ceiling of the women's staff restroom has been repaired. I did not get an update on Friday around the boiler, but did have it shut off at 1:00 to help with unbearable temps in the afternoons. Temperatures look to be higher this week and if this continues we will plan on turning the boilers off mid day.
- Speaking of the weather it looks like we may be indoors A LOT this week. We will be making every effort to get kids outside if at all possible. Please be sure to send kids with jackets to lunch.
- Check out the April newsletter from Learning Technologies. There is some important information regarding the Chromebook and Hotspot lending program through Multnomah County Library. We will be notifying families about this service in the coming weeks.
- Grammarly is finally available for all PPS staff and students. Click here to download the extension. Grammarly works within a variety of applications and platforms, including most Google Workplace tools. This is not a cheat to writing. It is used by professional writers on a daily basis. Grammarly helps by alerting writers to spelling, punctuation, grammar, and word choice issues.
- I have a weekly standing meeting with architects, project managers, facilities etc.. I asked this week if staff would need to do any additional packing for the summer. I have been told this will not be the case and we can put our rooms to rest as normal. There are a few people that may be impacted and I will reach out to them directly.
- Reminder to middle school teachers: Most of you received an email on April 12 from Digital Promise with the subject line ACTION REQUIRED. Please be sure to open that email and use the link to register for our last VILS required PD which will be on April 26. We will do the follow-up, asynch part of this training on Tuesday, May 3 at our staff meeting.
- I wanted to be sure you all have this information to plan accordingly. Here are dates of district level summer professional development. We will have at least six new adoptions in the building and it will certainly put a lot on our plates. I know come June 12th you will all be ready for a break, but if you can manage one of the early sessions it will allow things to marinate as you head off for vacation. Others of you may be in the group that would prefer to get an early start before we return and want to ease your way in...no mater where you fall I encourage you to take advantage of the extended pay and take this off your plate for the fall. My thought process around this always was three days of extended pay=several lunches and happy hours over the break.
