"Ohhhh we are halfway there, ohhhh". I couldn't help but to quote Bon Jovi a bit this morning. We are officially halfway through the year. Everyone deserves a bonus! I hope Friday was productive and you are able to utilize tomorrow as well.
Unfortunately I have a family funeral to attend tomorrow. I plan on being in the building until about 9:15 and will then leave for the remainder of the day. There is some time between the mass and graveside service and I will be able to make some meetings remotely, but will not be able to attend all of them. Thank you to Emily and Theresa for taking this on for me. It is much appreciated.
Agenda/Tasks for Monday January 31st
Half of tomorrow is yours for personal planning. The other portion of the day is for collaboration and climate work. We will be holding meetings with teams to check in, clarify and collaborate throughout the day. Our focus should be what shifts do we need to make in order to support students. PAT members you are may decide if this work can be done remotely.
- Review, and potentially add, students into our Kid Chat/MTSS document. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RfNX0vPE762W0kHe0L6IIjy6NZSXqSyWIxj5suYe3iw/edit#gid=76907806
- Review and adjust your personal classroom management plan. You may have done this upon returning from Winter Break. If so awesome, if not you have been given time to do this tomorrow. Remember to look at areas where you find yourself getting frustrated. This is likely an indication that something needs to change because what you are doing may not be working for you, or the student. I know when I found myself shaking my head a lot it mean something needed to change.
- Spend a bit of time looking for ways to highlight positives in your room. Make some calls to parents, freshen up your tracking sheets, do the little things you can't get to in the week that support behaviors.
- Attend your grade level or team meeting. We have scheduled climate check in meetings with all grade level teams as well as a few other teams. It will be a full day of meetings for many staff members, but we believe having an opportunity to check in around climate needs, interventions and student supports is needed. In order to prepare for tomorrow, and Tuesdays MTSS time (K-5 teachers), please be sure to update your students in our Kid Chat document. Theresa has put some exemplars in. Again, if you have questions you can get support tomorrow.
- As the second half/semester begins we will be switching specials around for K-5 students. Those classes that had music will now have art and vice versa. Here is a copy of our building schedule. You can find specific election information under the elective tab. Please make sure you are aware of shifts for your class and ask for clarification tomorrow if needed. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1obdsiVHlh-4yTL9hoLHwSDbiu1yywaKkhv6XEfQEh5o/edit#gid=0
- As a reminder if you are hosting speakers, volunteers, etc in your room please give Emily and I a heads up. Anyone coming into the building for longer than 15 minutes needs to be vaccinated. It is We like to let the office staff know so they can ask for proof, etc. Parent volunteers may come into the building at this point BUT have to be vaccinated. We are still trying to limit exposure to various cohorts. Another reason for this is I would love to thank them for coming to work with our kids if I can catch them!
- We would like to welcome Natalie Bottolfson to the Harrison Park staff. Some of you may know Natalie as our Champion childcare provider. She has been at Harrison Park in this capacity since the beginning of the year. She will now serve in the official capacity of Attendance Monitor. This is the position that Danelle held prior to moving into the TIC position. We will be working with Natalie this week to teach her the ropes and build a schedule. She will be available for planned/earned breaks, etc. If you have a need this would be a great thing to put in your Kid Chat document!
- Our new Campus Security Agent is slated to begin this week. I have not gotten the 100% official email yet, but hope to soon. I will keep you posted on this.
- Black History Month is here. We are working on a few ways to help acknowledge and honor students and others throughout the month. If you have things you are doing we would love to hear about them!
