Nightly News for January 5th
Good evening! I am slow to getting this out tonight. We have vaccinated 147 people tonight (that was an hour ago) and I saw many of our students. I want to share with you that several district folks have shared our staff is doing a great job and the "vibe" here is really good. I know we have our moments and it is not perfect, but I have to share this with you. I am very proud of your work!
- When entering an absence into ASEOP please be sure to put a note in the reason/administration section. This is very helpful for Shannon when she is working through reports and time keeping. If you have an appointment, etc. please let us know. The reason is someone may be out for an appointment, but they put sick. Right now this may means we need to follow up with questions etc. in regards to potential COVID cases. This just helps save her time. Thank you.
- We are reviewing who is trained for medicine distribution, first aid, etc. right now. YIKES. We have some catching up to do. Please be aware that if you ever plan to go on a field trip this year, and have a student who needs medication, is diabetic, etc. you will have to be trained prior to going. Emily and I had planned to devote some staff meeting times to this, but MESD didn't seem to have classes available. They do now and we will be sending out more information soon.
- Please see below for some changes in Remind.
New phone numbers have been assigned for our Remind users:
This means that the next time students and parents/guardians receive a text or call, it will come from a new ten-digit number that they will not recognize. It is recommended that class owners let class participants (student/parents/guardians) know about the change by sending an announcement.
Remind made this change over winter break in order to comply with new requirements from phone carriers. This change will result in fewer numbers being marked as spam. Please review this article to understand more about this change. For assistance, contact support.pps.net.
Ability to edit preferred language translations:
Users can now view and edit their translated messages prior to sending. Users can also turn off message translation for specific languages prior to sending.
New Staff Role:
Administrators can now assign users a new “staff” role to better represent titles and permissions within a school. Users with this staff role can message anyone in their school but can’t send school-wide announcements. This role is best for non-teaching staff members, such as office managers, guidance counselors, school nurses, and other school personnel.
