Nightly News for January 3rd

I hope today was fairly smooth. Things were pretty quiet in the beginning, but a few ripples came up throughout the day. Continue to be positive with students to set a good "vibe" for the new year. It was great to see people back today!


  • Theresa sent out info for K-5 teachers in regards to PLCs
  • Shannon sent out some information in regards to quarantine coverage etc. Please note it is is a bit confusing and not as straightforward as one might think. 
  • It would be a good idea to spend a little time reviewing your emergency sub plans and possibly doing some additional ones in the event they are needed. 
  • Tomorrow looks like it will be another rainy day. If you had issues with coverage today for inside recess please let me know so we can shore things up tomorrow. 
  • As a reminder if you are an PFSP or PAT member that does not get a substitute please communicate directly to me and/or Shannon as soon as possible. We need to have this information so we can let staff know and adjust duty schedules etc. 
  • I will be in a district meeting starting at 1:30 tomorrow and have to leave for a personal appointment (lost a part of a filing over break) at 2:30 tomorrow. As a reminder there is no staff meeting. Please use this time to work on sub plans, revamping expectations, etc.

Summer Forecast #2

In true summer fashion I squeezed out every single ounce before my vacation window ended. It was nice to have more flexibility and time off to relax, catch up with friends and projects but alas it is over.  I would like to introduce TWO new assistant principals for the upcoming school year. Regina Sun  joins us from Beverly Cleary K-8 and Spencer Crum from Ockley Green. We will discuss the delineation of duties when we are all together. I am excited to have a full team ready to serve staff and students.  I warned new hires the building was going to be under construction and we will all need to be flexible this year. When we officially were kicked out on June 23rd, rooms had been assigned and I felt confident we would be in good shape upon our return. Well as with any remodeling project there were unexpected issues that came up. In our case it was firewalls, or lack thereof. The good news is we never had a fire. Morning Minute for September 26th

Bus Drills are today (or tomorrow depending on when you are reading this). Below are videos that need to be shared with your 1st period classes prior to going out to the bus. The district is sending seven buses and we are fairly certain we can fit all our students on them at one time. Please wait until the overhead announcement is made and then make your way to the buses. Historically they are located in the cafeteria parking lot. This may be a bit different this year. Everyone will need to come through the lobby as it is so we will have someone direct from there. Schoene, Jernigan, and Coggins please leave your classes at 9:30  (since you don't get the announcements).  Spencer and Regina will direct teachers to buses as they exit the building.  Please note the timing of this is not ideal, especially with our testing schedule. Nightly News for Wednesday the 9th

Tomorrow is what may be our last Apple Harvest. This event begins at 5:00 and runs until 7:00. Valerie, Elin and Ron have spent time organizing and we are hoping for a great turn out. All staff are welcome to come and support!  We are looking for a paper cutter. Daniela currently has one in the art room that is hardly functioning. It needs to be retired. I am reaching out in hopes of finding one in the building that is stuffed in a closet or drawer somewhere and could be given to our art room for daily use before  we purchase a new one. Please let her, or me know if you have one you are willing to part with.  Just an FYI I was in meetings pretty much all day. I am behind in responding to emails and will work on this tomorrow as I can and over the weekend.
