I hope Friday was a productive day for all of you and you were able to catch your breath and get a few things accomplished. I was able to celebrate the weekend with my family and honor my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was a busy weekend and I am hoping to use today to catch up on a few things myself. May this next week fly by!

  • As you know Friday has been added as a staff PD day. Teaching staff and para educators are scheduled for PD in the morning. School directed PD is to take place for one hour in the afternoon, with the rest of the afternoon being work/collaboration time for staff. We will be using our hour as time for conference preparation. More details to follow.
  • Tomorrow is the first day of the second term. Our middle school students may have had some schedule shifts so there may be a little more activity in the halls and kids who need some direction/assistance in finding new classes etc. Thank you to Ana and Stacey for working on schedules.
  • Kenneth will be bringing K-2 Tech Carts to rooms tomorrow and Tuesday. Please make sure these are secured at the end of the day. Best practices would be to do a quick count at the end and beginning of the day to ensure no Chromebooks have gone missing.
  • On the topic of Chromebooks, I know there has been a request for headphones. I would like to ask families to supply headphones if they can.  I am fully aware that not all students will be able to bring them in and we will be working to order some for students who need them. Be thinking of how you can organize headphones!
  • PLCs will resume this week.
  • Just a reminder when making a call to the office in regards to a student support need please be specific about what the need is. A student/staff safety issue takes priority and office staff often serve as "dispatchers" in determining what needs immediate attention. If the situation is not one that requires immediate attention and it is something you can email administration, or Tami Edwards, they will address it as they can.
  • Please take time to go over lunch/recess expectations tomorrow. Our referral data is showing an uptick in recess referrals. As mentioned earlier this week we have been working to iron out trouble spots and are hoping to add additional support staff as we can. Classroom teachers can support by reviewing expectations often and going over them at their grade level recesses as well.
  • The TAG nomination window is now open until January 7th. Kim has shared with me that at the TAG Coordinator meeting this past week they said they want parents of TAG students to go over a form with classroom teachers in regards to their student. We will get more information on this, but I wanted to put it on your radar earlier as opposed to later. You should be aware of who your TAG students are and be looking for ways to differentiate for them. If you need support with this please feel free to reach out to Kim Jarvis, Emily, Theresa or me. Along the lines of TAG we also have some funds specific to TAG. If you have any ideas of how we may utilize this money please let me or Kim Jarvis know as soon as possible.
  • The district did not choose Harrison Park as one of the student vaccination sites. Our OHSU partners from our summer vaccination clinics have reached out to me and we are hoping to have a clinic at HP on December 8th, with the second one taking place January 5th. The clinic will take place from 3:15-7:30. More information will be forthcoming.
