Weekly Forecast for November 22nd & 23rd
Monday the 22nd
Conferences from 8:00-11:30, 12:30-4:00, 5:00-8:00
Tuesday the 23rd
Conferences from 8:00-11:30, 12:30-4:00, 5:00-8:00
- The building will be open on Wednesday the 24th from 8:00-4:00. However, unless it is imperative you need to be in the building we are asking people try not to come in. The first reason is YOU NEED A BREAK. The second reason is I would like for the custodians to have some time to accomplish work and to get out as early as possible.
- For those working from the building during conferences please make sure you turn off lights, close windows and exit the building by 8:15.
- Thank you to those of you who let me know if you were planning on coming into the building for conferences. I have shared this information with our custodians and the people from facilities who will be in on Monday to do some planning/work. If you have decided to come in and didn't let me know shoot me an email so I can keep them updated.
- K-5 Conference forms should have been sent home Friday along with conference reminders. We also asked teachers to send home the Title 1 Compacts. We will be sharing these online as well. This is a compliance expectation. They do not have to be returned, but in the event they are turn the back into the office.
- We will be asking all certified staff to keep track of all the families you conferenced with. For homeroom teachers you can simply track this on a class list. Specialists, ESL, Reading teachers etc. if you can keep a list of conferences you joined that would be great. We do ask you turn this in as soon as possible. Some of you will be able to accomplish this by Tuesday night, but if not we would like it by the Tuesday upon our return. This is good information for us to have especially in the event a parent has concerns. For example, last year we had a teacher who diligently worked to schedule a conference with a parent and was not able to. The parent came in the following week and was upset about not having information. I was able to share the multiple ways the teacher had reached out to them. This changed the conversation!
- On that note if you still have families that did not sign up for conferences please make an effort to reach out to them during any open time you may have. I have found that sometimes I was able to get through and have a quick phone conference with them. You could note this on the list you turn in. In the same vein if you do make multiple attempts to no avail please make notes on this as well.
- If you have conferences you feel that you may need some support in please send Emily and/or me an invite. We will make every effort to make them. Emily will be in the building tomorrow until around 12:00 and will then work from home as her own kids are out of school. I will be coming in before 11:00 and will be out at a meeting at McDaniel. I have several meetings on both days. My plan is to be in the building until the evening tomorrow. We will both play Tuesday by ear.
Finally, I hope you are all able to relish the four days of time off. Please take time to do something that makes you feel good. I am so thankful for your perseverance, flexibility and work. Emily and I both have heard some things about other buildings and while Harrison Park has always been a bit unwieldy at times our staff does a great job under pressure. This year is no different. I am proud to serve you and am thankful for each of you.
