Friday the 19th

I hope you had a solid weekend. I was able to address a lot of emails/paperwork on Friday and feel like I can get through another week. I hope you felt Friday was productive and the extra time for conference prep  was helpful.

  • Our staff meeting on Tuesday is slated for additional time to prepare for conferences. We may have a short check in at 3:30 and will definitely be available to answer any questions in regards to conferences. We have made a big push to schedule our families who need interpreters and sent out messaging directly to those families over the weekend. A message will go out to families tonight, or tomorrow morning that do not need interpretation to begin scheduling. I know some of you have already reached out to your families and started this process. THANK YOU. We will be sending out several Messengers, "robo calls" and Reminds to all families to schedule and ask that classroom teachers do the same. Again, the goal is to touch base with as many parents as possible. There are 40 slots available for conferences so hopefully we can squeeze everyone in!
  • Conference forms that needed translations should have been submitted on Friday. A reminder to turn in a copy of your forms to the office by the 18th.
  • Teachers please remind your students that if they choose to take only milk at lunch they will be charged for it.  In order to not be charged they need to also take a meal. Once they go through the line, they cannot go back to get milk if they change their mind. Please encourage your students to get lunch (even if they don't want to eat) and take milk (just in case they change their mind).
  • From the counseling team regarding student safety: If a student is talking, writing, or drawing about suicide or self harm, please contact the counseling team immediately so that we can meet with the student as soon as possible. You can call our extensions, call the office to radio us, or email with "Urgent" in the subject. We follow a suicide screening protocol and the earlier in the day we know about concerns, the more time we have to assess and then contact the family. Please know you are not alone in responding to the student- if in doubt about a situation, please contact us!

  • As a reminder the district has given staff the option to conduct conferences from school or home. There will not be an expectation for staff to come to come in. Official hours for conferences are 8:00-11:30, 12:30-4:00 and 5:00-8:00. PAT members are required to work these hours. PFSP employees are scheduled to work their normal hours. I will send out information to those staff members directly.
